My husband and I had the privilege to stay at the Elk Willows house for 2 nights in September. The first thing we noticed when we arrived at the house is how peaceful the area is. The house is located on a ranch and sits on a hill which allows for the fabulous views in every direction. The alpacas and llama that stay on the ranch were fun to see everyday. This house has everything you will need plus more! There is a great deck with a grill, satellite tv, washer/dryer, fully stocked kitchen, dishwasher, microwave, a full library of books and even binoculars. They provide daily housekeeping. The location can't be beat for exploring the East side of Glacier National Park. The house is located close to Many Glacier, St Mary and about an hour to Waterton. On top of all this Janice and Colin, the caretakers, are fabulous. They were always happy to help out and we loved talking to them and hearing stories about the area. I highly recommend a stay at Paul Ranch and hope to be back soon. This place is a piece of heaven.

Four retired traveling companions recently enjoyed a special beginning on a visit to some of the Western National Parks in Montana and Canada. Staying in the Elk Willows accommodations at Paul Ranch was a terrific find... Nearby Glacier NP in all its grandeur is majestically unforgettable...AND...being able to come back HOME after a full day's activities to a clean, comfortable, spacious residence, fully equipped (spices and libraries) and artfully designed was more than chocolate frosting on the cake. Phenomenal views from living/dining room areas of Eastern GNP mountains...and friendly visits from alpacas and their guard llama brought us a comfortable end to our days of trekking...The assistance, help and suggestions of managers Janice and Colin topped off a perfect holiday initiation. Heartily recommend the Paul Ranch.

My husband & I stayed in the Wagon Wheel cottage at Paul Ranch for 5 days in Sept 2011 during a 12-day visit to Glacier / Waterton. If we had it to do over, we'd stay only at Paul Ranch. It’s unbelievably beautiful & secluded without being totally isolated. Janice & Colin are great hosts - had everything we needed. Location is hands-down the BEST for exploring the best of East Glacier Park (Many Glacier, east-side of Going-to-Sun Rd., & south-east Glacier). If you're planning on visiting Waterton, stay at Paul Ranch - it’s only a 45-minutes gorgeous drive & no hassle with border crossing border. Don’t stay in over-priced, touristy Waterton - just day-visit. After our stay at Paul Ranch, we crossed to West Glacier & stayed in Columbia Falls, but were disappointed with its touristy nature (plus it’s a longer drive to get back to into the park). The east & west sides of Glacier are like night & day. Maybe the west side is ok if you have small kids & want to take them to tacky waterparks, etc. Additionally, all the hype on Montana websites about the "charming" towns of Kalispell & White Mountain is just that - hype. If you like having space to yourself & want to spend your time in nature, save your time & money & just stay at Paul Ranch; besides, East Glacier is truly the far more beautiful side. Everything about the cottage was very comfortable & we could have had 2 more couples comfortably. We had TV though we seldom watched with so much beauty out the front door. Cooked our own meals & had several great ones nearby. I can't say enough about Paul Ranch or Janice & Colin. For the purpose of folks reading this review, all our lodging on the trip was in rental cottages for 4-5 night stays. It’s the only way to travel, and beats by a long shot the crowded rooms, full parking lots & lack of freedom staying in the park lodges. If you just have to be able to say you did it, stay 1 night in a lodge, and then head to Paul Ranch. Thanks Janice!

The Paul Ranch was exactly what we were looking for in an East Glacier stay. We had some travel issues and Janice went above and beyond to help us get there and also during our entire stay. She said that she wants to provide 5 star service and she means it! She is a gem! The house is modest but comfortable and very clean. Gorgeous views, especially sunsets from the deck, if you can brave the mosquitoes in July. Probably because Logan Pass had not opened yet, but we found the "grocery" stores food selection to be extremely thin. So, we ended up cooking less than expected. Also, my kids are still talking about the pies at the Two Sisters Cafe. You gotta go:-) Finally, we stayed half time on the east side of the park and half time on the west. It was totally the way to go to save 3 hr drives to hikes! I highly recommend Paul Ranch for a stay on the east side of Glacier NP. Also, yes dirt road but not 4 wheel drive necessary, tho we were in SUVs.

We really enjoyed our visti at the Ranch. The Accomodations were really nice and the care takers were friendly and and very accomodating. The additiion of the Alpacas made it extra fun. The road up to the house is a dirt road so a four wheel drive vehicle is remended

We stayed in the Wagon Wheel and this vacation rental met our expectations. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped, the setting was relaxed and beautiful. The thirty minute drive into Glacier National Park was interesting and we saw something new every time. We enjoyed getting to know Janice, the caretaker, and hearing her stories of surviving the 40 below winters. She was attentive to our needs and it was great to come home to dishes washed and beds made and even delicious homemade cookies sometimes! We would go back in a heartbeat.

We stayed at the Paul Ranch historic bunkhouse while visiting the park for a weekend get away. It was so worth the extra drive to get there! The setting is quiet, peaceful and amazingly beautiful!! Janice and Colin are wonderful hosts that do their best to take care of everything! The bunkhouse is very clean, comfortable and cute as can be! Having a cup of coffee in the morning while sitting on the step looking out at the beautiful country was a highlight of the weekend. I would highly recommend staying out here and really seeing some beautiful Montana country instead of the crowded campgrounds.
