We have just returned from a fabulous one week break at Pian Di Cascina. My husband, 2 year old daughter and I stayed in the one bedroom Cantina apartment. The apartment was absolutely spotless, beautifully decorated and included everything you could possibly need (a cot, highchair, monitor, box of toys were all provided in advance for our toddler) and helped to take the hassle out of travelling with a toddler. We dined at the taverna twice - Isabel is a fabulous cook and we thoroughly enjoyed our child-free dinners knowing that our toddler was only a short distance away (in monitor distance). We also made use of the babysitting service and had a lovely meal out in Gubbio one evening. The swimming pool, paddling pool and play park (various toys/bikes/sandpit) were great. We used the apartment as a great base for exploring the region (we particularly loved Gubbio and Assisi).

We can't begin to explain how lovely and wonderful our trip was to Pian Di Cascina. We were a family of 6, grandparents, mom, dad, a 3 year old and 16 month old and stayed in la Cascina. La Cascina was cozy and comfortable, and very spacious for the 6 of us. All of the little extras such as the boxes of toys for the kids to borrow, and the play area outside received astounding "wows" from my three year old. Forget Italy! He wanted to play in the sandbox and on the swingset! Pian Di Cascina was a great hub for exploring Umbria, which was magical. We visited Perugia, Gubbio, Urbina, Spello and Orvieto - all of which were wonderful. We ordered cornettis and fresh bread for breakfast most days, and they were a delicious treat. We also ate two meals at La Tavernetta and they were fabulous, as well as Isabel's wine recommendations. This was the most family friendly accomodation and we truly appreciated all the little extras that made it beyond comfortable for our family and a home away from home. I can't recommend this highly enough for families!

A lovely week here. Lots of interesting day trips to Gubbio, Assisi, Perugia. Beautiful countryside and views from the farm. Large play area for children and the pool was lovely. Great walks / runs in the area and we visited the caves nearby on a rainy day. Our children are 4 and 6 and it was a good base to come back to after a day sightseeing. Recommend to all families.

We have just returned from an 8 night stay and absolutely loved it......our girls (aged 18 months and 3.5) really enjoyed the whole experience from the toys provided in the villa to making friends with lots of other children. The villa was great (The Gubbio) - spacious and had a lovely private terrace with stunning views. The play area was perfect for the girls with lots of ride on trikes, a sandpit and climbing frames; the pool was stunning and a good size and having the paddling pool for our 18 month old was great. We ate in the restaurant two nights - the food was excellent and service was great.
All in all a perfect family holiday and we will definitely be returning next year.

Room Tip: The Gubbio is a good size with a great private terrace

...that's what Isabel and Paul have aimed to achieve. And in a sense, they've succeeded. Once you've got the 5* reviews (cleanliness, ease of communications, facilities) it's the little details that make the difference. Our villa was filled with toys for our 20 month old - toys she actually played with because they were the sort you'd buy for your own kids - clean, up to date and relevant to her age. And the information book in each villa was more of a bible - so comprehensive we used it instead of the (supplied) Lonely Planet guide.
Furthermore, the meal they served was great and without the need for a babysitter (though they will arrange that if you need) and the location is as safe as you can find in a remote location, but an easy drive from several great towns and attractions. Variety made our holiday and our hosts made it easy.
