The food is quite good and the wine selection is good as well.
Could add a few more reds (cabs) in the high $20 to low $30 range.
Upstairs Wine Bar is a good place to visit as well.
Service is excellent.

Went for wife's birthday with a groupon the restaurant offered online. When we got there (hour drive). We were told that even though the coupon was sold to us, we couldn't use it for a week. Not good business practice for a restaurant claiming to be the best.

We did not know a lot about American Bounty, but we do now. We had a date with "Bounty" to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary - and it was WONDERFUL. Our waitress "Kate" was EXCEPTIONAL - courteous, polite, and very attentive to every detail of our celebration. The food was excellent.

However, do not go there for any "fast food" meal - go there if you wish to have good food, friendly and attentive service, and time to just sit and enjoy the ambiance of the establishment - including leisurely time to converse with those who accompany you. We live in Fenton, MO - approximately 36 miles away - but we will most CERTAINLY revisit American Bounty when we want to have a warm, flavorful, restful, and non-rushed dining experience. We eagerly look forward to our next venture to the "Bounty".

We had a girls weekend near Washington, MO and visited a lot of bars and restaurants while we were there. American Bounty had the best food by far. We sat in the wine bar overlooking the Missouri River and could see the sun set over the river- really nice view! The service was wonderful. The food takes as long as would be expected when its fresh and made to order. They have a great wine list and really unique drink specials~really good beer from St Gen. the manager did explain to us that American Bounty Restaurant had in the past been a fancier restaurant (with a reputation of being expensive), but as the times have changed people are wanting more casual and less expensive food- they have added pizzas and burgers to the menu and that's also when they opened the wine bar to attract more regular customers and not only special occasions. So, they have a gorgeous patio with a hops garden, and main dining area that caters to special occasions, and a wine bar for the more relaxed and casual diner. All 3 sections have the same menu. The wine bar has more drink specials and appetizer specials.

My husband and I like American Bounty. It's a nice place for special occasions--low key but still special. We have never had a bad meal here. We recently went for our anniversary and had their current special--a 3 course meal with 4 glasses of wine selected for you all for $30. The meal was very good--from the salad to the entree (salmon for me, steak for my hubby) to the dessert. But...we almost left before we were even seated. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation on a weekend evening. There wasn't a sole in the restaurant, though we could hear people upstairs in the wine bar. The phone rang twice while we stood there and went to the answering machine. We discussed, if we stayed, would we get any service at all? Just as we were about to leave, the manager appeared and seated us. The excuse given was not acceptable, nor was an apology given.

Still, all in all, I would give them another opportunity because I love the food and the atmosphere. Perhaps someone didn't show up to work that night!
