“Excellent!”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

There were three of us in our party tonight, two ordered dim sum, and one ordered orange chicken. The orange chicken was excellent, served with a huge bowl of rice. For dim sum, we ordered the shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, scallion pancake, and one of the buns. All were very delicious. Food is served fairly quickly and the wait staff was attentive. Will come back here.

“Glad we chose this restaurant”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

While the options for dining along Olive Blvd in University City are endless, we chose Lu Lu's and were not disappointed. We were welcomed and seated quickly to a nice table and knew we had made a good choice from the "example plates" upon entry and the color photos in the menu. I enjoyed the steamed pork dumplings and Bean Sprouts with Dry Tofu. My wife's comment was that the WonTon soup was the best she had tasted because it was freshly made noodles and very hot (temperature) tasty broth. We enjoyed watching the huge servings going out to different family groups and tables and look forward to another opportunity to dine with the folks at Lu Lu's.

“Don't go there”
Reviewed December 28, 2013 via mobile

The service is bad, the food is terrible. We choose it because of the high recommendation. But it really turned us down. If you want to try the traditional and good Chinese food, go to the one across the street, Chaozhou Cuisine. That one is really good!

“RUDE”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

On my recent visit, the overriding factor is the RUDENESS of the Dragon Man at the front & the wait staff. The Dim Sum was just O.K. - so-so. The Peking Duck SUCKED - was, way too much soggy fat, none of that crispy unqutiousness (sp?) that is PD. Took ONE bite & tried to send it back & was told that's the way it is supposed to be, we didn't know what we were talking about, etc., etc. - literally there were 5 people yelling at us at our table!!!!!! Dragon Man insisting we had to pay for it. All eyes on us, we attempted to go to the front & pay but the circus followed us. We paid, including the PD (just wanted to get the hell out of there), then they came at us outside the front door saying we didn't pay enough??? They had made a mistake & we needed to pay more???? Don't waste your money, their time has come and is way past gone!

“Some Good, Some Not So Good”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

Lu Lu is located in an area populated by many Asian restaurants, many of which are said to be "authentic." Lu Lu does offer a varied and interesting menu, along with more familiar dishes such as Kung Pao Chicken. The list of hot plates and noodle dishes is far more extensive than we've seen elsewhere.

The food was very tasty, with the exception of the Wonton soup which was so salty it was inedible. Beef Chow Fun was delicious as was the Spicy Beef with peppers. The chicken with mixed vegetables was bland and lacked sauce. Again, they are very heavy handed with the sodium and you can expect your rings to be tight the next morning.

This place is popular and we experienced spotty service. The dining room is pleasant with ethnic decorations but the chairs are hard wood and not at all comfortable. We would return to Lu Lu for the specific dishes we liked but can't honestly rate this restaurant higher than the other Chinese restaurants in the area, all of which in our experience offer above average fare.
