As the culinary highlight of a recent cross-country road trip, I genuinely recommend your taking a break from Interstate-type chow to dine at what locals call 'a St Louis favorite since 1974'. The prices are totally worth what you get. I'll provide some important location access tips further below.

Starting with their fresh minestrone soup with large beef chunks as being a meal in itself to the authentic spumoni ice cream desserts, The Pasta House Co. provides the complete 'passionate' Italian Restaurant with Sports Bar experience. Snappy waitresses keep the food coming. The decor is not the usual wine-bottle Italian theme but features an eclectic, slightly industrial look with large, authentic movie posters from the Spaghetti Westerns and La Dolce Vita eras. Shelves full of their own sauces, pastas and dressings for sale spice up the check-out area. Wifi is available and the rest rooms are spacious and clean.

The huge menu tends toward Sicilian, Sardinian and Neapolitan dishes, with Pasta House's staff recommending the Chicken Flamingo in white wine and garlic sauce as the most popular dish with the Pasta con Broccoli as the next favorite. Many of the spaghetti dishes feature the angel hair variety. There are plenty of draft beer choices and they also serve a take-out and catering clientele.

Allow for enough time to eat and relax a bit; this is not fast food. This is a good time to rely on your GPS device. Although a billboard for Pasta Hs was seen miles back on I-44, it is not signed at Exit 240, where you must get off onto State Route 47. Be intrepid and follow these directions; you won't be sorry: Take 47 north from I-44 (that's a right turn at the end of the off-ramp if you are going west on 44, a left turn if you exited eastbound). Continue N on 47 a few miles thru rolling countryside then at US 50 turn left (watch for construction) then after about a mile, turn right and continue N on 47. After about a mile watch for Independence Dr (it comes up suddenly) and turn right, down a hill, then make a quick left on Union Plaza Dr into a strip mall where The Pasta House is situated. Keep track of the turns so you can find your way back to the Interstate. US 50 eastbound also gets you back to I-44.

Again, this was one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever tasted at! They are on Facebook and their website is www.pastahouse.com You should try them.
