“Had a great time!”
Reviewed June 22, 2011

Just returned from a gret time at Lakeview Resort. We stayed in a studio unit, which was like a motel room on the water, but with a full kitchen. That is one of the things we found appealing about Lakeview, all of their units have full kitchens, which is a huge convenience and saves money from having to eat meals out all the time. Everyone was freindly and helpful at check in and the weather was perfect. I think we enjoyed sitting on our lakeside deck and enjoying the view the most. I have no problem recommending this resort to anyone and we will return.

Just returned from a great Ozark retreat at this quaint resort set along the shores of Lake of the Ozarks. Nothing fancy here, but just the way we like it when we visit the Ozarks. If we wanted fancy, we would have stayed in a Marriott or something similar and, of course, paid the price. We went online an found a great deal on lakeside cottage #23 at Lakeview Resort. It came to only $73.30 per night for a 2 bedroom 1 bath with their get acquainted special. Worth every penny, actually a lot more in our opinion. When they say "lakeside cottage", they're not kidding. We were literally only steps to the waters edge.
We had a fully equipped kitchen where we were able to cook in most of our meals and have coffee on the deck of a morning. It so peaceful this time of year, all we heard was the doves cooing. Fishing was great with the fishing pier in front of our unit. Talked with the owner on the grounds one afternoon, and he said they spend a lot of time and expense putting in habitat for fish (crappie beds, as they call them), so that fishermen will hopefully have better luck. Paid off in my case. I was able to catch enough for a fish fry.
Nice resort with a warm home town feel. The office staff and owner were extremely pleasant, which was just icing on the cake. I would recommend to anyone of my friends or family. Will definitely return.

September is a great time to stay, especially during the week. Very relaxing! Weather is still great, without much boat traffic. The wives liked having kitchens to cook our meals. We didn't use much in the way of amenities, but everything looked nice. We did use the boat dock, fish cleaning sink, fishing piers, and enclosed fishing dock. Obviously, it was a fishing trip! The fishing house needed a little cleaning (probably because of end of summer), but the color TV made up for it. We watched baseball while fishing, and actually caught fish. What more could a guy ask for...yes, we did have a stocked cooler with us. We are now booking for our spring fishing trip. Can't go wrong for this type of getaway.

We stayed at Lakeview Resort last fall on the advice of a friend, and had such a great time, we wanted to experience it in the summer. We're glad we did. The whole family had so much fun; playing in the water, boating, parasailing, sitting around a campfire in the evenings and just hanging out on our deck visiting. We had a quaint lakeside cottage right on the waters edge. If the cottage were any closer to the water, it would be in the lake! The cottage was decorated in rustic lodge theme that was appropriate for a lake cottage. The resort is very condusive for children to get around and play without parents having to worry...if that's possible. Lakeview is not a fancy resort, but we're not interested in fancy. We like the casual laid back astmosphere the resort offers with individual cottages. Yes, we experienced some bugs outside, mostly at night around lights, but what do you expect when you're at a lake with lots of trees and wooded areas. I've also noticed that Lakeview has been family owned and operated by the same family for 64 years, which to me is commendable. The resort and cottages are very well maintained, especially considering how long the resort has been in existence. Great family resort!

Overall--somewhat satisified. However...if what you mean by cottage is "double wide" then so be it...and if by rustic you mean "outdated and ant infested, poor plumbing, lack of air conditioning..." then this is the place for you. AC in 350 and 351 units is severely lacking and not very effective, fire alarm beeps/nonfunctional, very poor plumbing (but at least they included 1-2 plungers at each drain site--including the kitchen sink!). When we arrived to our facilities, it was filthy, with prior tenants dirty clothing and underwear remaining, moldy bathroom and dining room ceiling, and many add'l maintenance issues. We were part of a 50+ person family reunion--the families that stayed in the condos had much better facilities...but the dryers took several hours to dry minimal clothing. But the condos are much better than the 'cottages'. The suites are a somewhat better value for small family. Pool choices are nice. Nice location on the lake. Office staff and owner was not very helpful with coming up with solutions to problems, but very quick to come up with poor excuses for bad service and why they could not fix problems. Problems with AC, dryers, basic amenities should have been fixed and addressed--if unable, something should have been offered in exchange. Poor service by the owners.

We stayed in cottage #210 for a quiet 5 day getaway and we should of stayed home. It was terrible from the walking in to the cottage. We walked in and the smoke detector was beeping in the bedroom, the detector was hanging out of the wall with bare wires. Inside the circuit breaker box was wires that had just been taped together and was very dangerous. The roof was leaking in the living room and the carpet was soaked. The sliding patio door was broke, it needed some new rollers. The ants in the kitchen was all over my food and the seal on the refrigerator leaked. The whole place was run down. The pictures on the web site must be from when it was new. We left a day early and they never said sorry or asked if they could do something else for us. The lady at the desk said she would talk to Paul (whomever that is) about it and we never heard anything back. Don't stay here, worse vacation yet!!! Internet didn't work more than it did.

In such a wonderful setting, with a beautiful cottage and excellent staff, absolutely everything about our stay was perfect! We have stayed at the Lake of the Ozarks at various other resorts and fortunately, found this one! I would never stay anywhere but at Lakeview Resorts on our subsequent trips to the Ozarks - it was just that good. I've posted a few photos, but I was so impressed with our cabin, I just had to make a little video - take a look ;)
