“All Drury Inn's have been great places to stay”

We have stayed at this property several times and it is always clean inside and out. The rooms are nicely kept and comfortable. The staff is friendly and accomidating. We especially like that the motel chain is pet friendly. We enjoy the breakfast and nightly reception. A nice welcome at the end of a long drive.

TRIP PURPOSE:
We were vacationing in Springfield for the weekend to attend the annual Grizzly Industrial tool sale which my son and I do. My wife attended with us so there were three of us adults staying in a king suite.

RESEARCH:
Not much research was to be had on the net regarding this hotel short of the it's own web page which was flattering, of course. Still, having stayed at a Drury some years back, which we liked very much, we decided this was not a difficult decision.

HOTEL:

The hotel itself is well maintained with no noticable issues whatsoever aside from minimal pool cleaning that could have been from wind.

STAFF:

The staff were all immaculate in their appearance with what appeared to be tailored uniforms. Staff members themselves were well mannered, seemed happy to assist and neatly groomed.

Check in was unfortunate in two ways. While we were greeted well we encountered a significant difference in room rate than had been previously quoted and confirmed by the hotel. While not altogether unusual, when we mentioned the discrepancy the attendant was chagrined, which is unusual. The other issue at check in was the attendant's diction which left us unable to understand what was being said.

*In consideration of the difficulties above we appreciated the Asst. Manager's rate adjustment for our trouble.

ROOM:

The king suite sported a quite well appointed two-room footprint with a king bed in one room with a (Wal-mart special) recliner and a pull-out sofa bed in the other. Both rooms were well equipped with TVs and refrigerators and the bedroom even had a microwave.

POOL/EXERCISE:

The indoor/outdoor pool and spa was a delight for our son but much too cold otherwise. A conversation with the management has it that, as the pools are conjoined and Springfield had experienced a recent rainstorm, it was possible that the heating system had yet to warm the water to it's assigned temperature.

The indoor spa was delightful, if not a bit too well chemically treated. It certainly put an abrupt end to this writer's backache, if at least for a little while.

The exercise room, my wife reports, is quite limited at best but sufficient to maintain one's cardiovascular health for a short trip. It was my understanding that elliptical and treadmill type of equipment was available at the time of our stay but a call to the hotel would be in order for anyone more than passively interested.

BREAKFAST:

The hotel seems to pride itself on it's hot breakfast but this is one area where we must depart ways. The menu items include scrambled eggs, sausage patties, french toast, biscuits & gravy, fruit danish, miniature muffins, cook yourself waffles and various other sundries of similar fare.

While the items themselves might sound inviting, as they certainly did to us, the quality is otherwise. The eggs are powdered and tend to break back down to water and egg mix after a short while. The muffins, danish, french toast and the like are obviously purchased from a warehouse club.

While there's nothing inherently wrong in offering this type of food in a hotel setting, per se, I just can't say when I've ever seen it offered quite to this scale before and at a hotel of the caliber of a Drury Inn.

VICINITY:

There are ample restaurants nearby that require no trans-portation. Bob Evans & Ruby Tuesday restaurants actually surround the property and are well within walking distance. Many other restaurants are only a short walk or drive away.

City and area attractions are nearby and within a short driving distance as this property is ideally situated next to the interstate.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

The hotel also offers other amenities such as free long distance telephone service for an hour per room, popcorn and soda between 3pm and 11pm and 24 hour coffee in the lobby (although the coffee is a hit or miss thing we found.)

There is also free coffee service in your room however it's taste, oddly enough, is somewhat discouraging.

There is a main safety deposit box in the lobby, according to the hotel website, however, we are perplexed at the lack of individual room boxes.

SUMMARY:

Drury Inn & Suites Springfield, Missouri is a grand place to visit for leisure as well as business. It is comfortable and the amenities are plentiful. Be sure to come expecting relaxation and
enjoyment as this property will likely provide it, and more. Just be sure to go elsewherefor breakfast and you'll have yourself a wonderful time.

We stopped here on our way home from Chicago and did a "walk-in" rate after calling hotels and having no luck at anything but Super 8. The rate was $79 + tax and we decided to go for it based on free breakfast for the kids + us in the morning. As we were checking in we discovered "free cocktails" too! We had less than 20 minutes to enjoy it but they allowed us to get our maximum of 3 drinks in those 20 minutes and take them back to our room. The kids and my husband went swimming while I ran to Target.

The room was nothing spectacular, but fine and clean. Two double beds, free long-distance for one hour and free internet service! Add in a hot free breakfast including biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, waffles and sausage and the place was a hit with my crew.
