I stayed here for a conference in October 2012. Frankly, I wasn't expecting much, just a clean place to sleep and perhaps a simple breakfast bar, along the lines of a Holiday Inn or Comfort Inn. What I got was definitely a step up from that, with many of the amenities of higher-priced hotels.
The free breakfast was outstanding - tons of fruit and hot breakfast items in a clean, modern dining area. (The hotel has an open floor plan so all the spaces flow together and feel comfortable.) The meeting rooms were totally serviceable for a smaller conventions like ours. I would say 300 people would be as high as the hotel could accomodate in terms of meeting spaces.
The fitness room was not great - one universal machine for weights and 6-7 cardio stations. A small set of free weights would do wonders. The pool was nice, however, and they have an outdoor pool as well that is open during the summer. This led me to think that the hotel doesn't really have a set identity, since it offers business spaces but lacks a good fitness room. The pools seem to cater more towards families.
The most pleasant surprise were the loaner bikes the hotel offers for its guests. They are simple, perfectly decent Wal-Mart cruisers, the Panama Jack Huffy's to be exact, but they are decently maintained and pretty much always available. Springfield is a car oriented and surprisingly traffic-filled town, but if you head towards campus or down to the river you can find some perfectly nice bike path areas.
Other nice attributes include a small 24 hour convenience store that sells basic items, and a staff that was friendly and engaged, including a concierge. :) We paid about $100 per night, and felt that considering the amenities listed above and the clean, well-appointed rooms, it would be worth staying there again.

Stayed in this hotel using Hotwire on our cross country motorcycle trip. What a treat!
Big room, with a king size bed, a sofa and desk. Excellent free breakfast too.
In addition, the staff let us park the bike under cover as a huge storm was brewing, which is always appreciated.
One downside was that it was about 8 miles from the centre of town but the hotel appears to have a shuttle service (which we didn't use/ ask about).

I stayed here recently for a conference. Since it was the official hotel, the rate was reasonable. The staff interactions were good, you can tell they have been trained which is alway nice to see. The room was large, a bit out of date but clean. the bathroom was divided off with the toilet/shower in a seperate room. It was very small so if you are a large person or have issues with small spaces, ask at the desk. Free breakfast was very good, happy hour prices were good. Note to Food and Beverage Manager: Please upgrade your wine selection. I swear you could have bought all the reds at a nearby Quicktrip. Try adding a few mid-priced California cabs. Otherwise, definitely worthy if the room rate fits your budget.

Room Tip: Decent fitness center as well. All the basic cardio plus a nice weight rack.

We will definitely be back! Stayed here on a lark because of a Groupon. Had always driven through Springfield before. Never again! UPH is clean and comfortable and well-appointed. EVERY employee was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast is tasty and abundant. Plus the location can't be beat. We liked that it was so close to downtown, but it's also close to the ballpark and several other attractions. Another fun and unique thing about UPH is that, upon request, they will lend you a goldfish or two to stay in your room during your visit.

Room Tip: Weekday happy hour in the lobby includes live music until 7 pm, but our room on the 6th floor had ve...

I lucked out finding this groupon. We used it for our first anniversary. The hotel was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't meet a single employee that wasn't smiling. Breakfast was great. They had a choice from filling to healthy. We even enjoyed visiting with the other guests. The room was comforable and very clean. We had a little trouble figuring out the cable and remote but the front desk sent someone up to help us. The second night, my computer couldn't log into the web, but that may have been my computer. Springfield is short drive from Branson and far enough away to get out of the hustle and bustle. The only complaint I could have is that not all the jets worked in the hot tub and that wan't much of a problem. I spent more time in the indoor pool than the tub. Oh, and the building is beautiful.

Room Tip: Pick a corner. We didn't have a problem with noise, but I heard one of the front desk persons t...
