“An urban natural place”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

All of our grandchildren look forward to their visits to the Nature Center when they visit us in Springfield. They are treated to the site of wild turkeys, white tailed deer, birds and chipmunks as they forage in the natural surroundings by Lake Springfield. The night walks and spring viewing of the Bald eagles is superb for youngster. Our youngest daughter even did a part of her internship for her degree in Outdoor recreation there. It is a super place to visit on the South side of Springfield, Missouri. A perfect place to visit no matter the season (including enjoy the winter fire in the large fire place in the visitors center and gift shop.

“Not to be missed”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

If you love nature and trails to walk this place should not be missed. We have been going here since it opened more than 15 years ago. There is a beautiful Visitor center with a bird/wildlife viewing room, live displays of snakes ,spiders ,fish and turtles local to our area. Also Educational opportunities for adults and children. Hiking the trails take you to a Wildlife blind and over and along a lake where you can see turtles, fish and birds. A wonderful way to relax and enjoy. All staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Should not be missed, we are fortunate to have such a wonderful place. Great photo opportunities.

“Looking for an Outdoor Adventure? Got Kids? Take 'em if you got 'em!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Hike the trails. Check-out the waterfowl blind. Explore all that's offered in the Center. Very much kid friendly/oriented. Be sure to take advantage of the educational programs too (http://mdc.mo.gov/regions/southwest/springfield-conservation-nature-center)!
