you should go see this...even if you are not an outdoor person.....an amazing retail store....with a natural history museum and small reptile aquariums in it...truly an amazing place....and to think it all started from a 12x12 metal bait shop in springfield back in the 60's./....i bought lures there when i was in college....just remarkable.....

What an amazing experience I had at the ORIGINAL Bass Pro Shop. You walk in and you are immediately transformed into another world. It's an instant outdoor vacation...but indoors. It is so beautiful with all the fish tanks and man made ponds that house not only trout and catfish, but turtles and alligators too. This place is HUGE and it is soooo enjoyable for children. I was pleasantly surprised not to find the place overly priced; especially on their T-shirts and typical touristy paraphernalia. I bought a really nice BP cap (not the meshy fisherman kind) but a good quality one for 7.99. C'mon... it could've easily have gone for twice that much and people would still buy it. I also bought some T-shirts and Swamp People boxer shorts! (SO much Duck Dynasty stuff were available as well) We spent a good couple of hours and decided to come back again the next day! It was really fun.

this would have never been a place I would necessarily go...but so glad we did! It was huge and had aquariums stocked with cool fish...had taxidermy wild animals...real alligators..lots of great clothing..and other outdoor accessories....I was blown away at the size of the place....the Chai Latte was great too!

I'm not a huge sportsman, but I heard about the Bass Pro Shop in Springfield, Missouri and figured it was worth a look. Boy, was it! The shear size of the building is spectacular. When you walk in you see aquariums filed with trout and other sport fish, there's even a tank with a 6foot alligator gar. Oh, and there's an enclosure with a couple of crocodiles. Giant stuffed bears, elk, deer and other critters are everywhere. I walked toward the fishing department and instead of having one, maybe two, aisles of fishing poles, they must have had 15! Take your camera because you want to show your friends what you saw. He place houses the National Archery Hall of Fame and a firearms museum. Anything you could possibly need for hunting, fishing or spending time outdoors is here and there's like a bazillion choices of each thing. Even if you're not the outdoor type, you gotta see this place.

Great store with so many cool things to see! Anything related to Bass Pro is very detailed and amazing...there are waterfalls with taxidermy animals and an area near the cash registers that makes it seem like you are underwater thanks to lighting and the painted ceiling that includes things like the bottom of a boat, ducks feet, etc. There are aquariums and a shooting range! They have a new gun museum and someday the Wonders of Wildlife will reopen. They have a wonderful restaurant called Hemingways.I believe this was their first store and head quarters. Even if you aren't into hunting, fishing, or camping you could still spend an enjoyable hour or two looking at everything! Go in the bathrooms near the cash registers and turtles...unless they have changed them they are cool and be sure to look up at the ceiling!
