After visiting Lambert's in Sikeston last fall, I returned with two friends who are exchange students. They had not seen anything like it and loved everything - as did I. The food is good, typical down-home cooking, the atmosphere is fun, and the throwed rolls and unlimited sides along with the old-timey decor made it an outstanding afternoon. The real surprise was our server. His name is Cody and he is still in high school, but he could easily get a job in a first class restaurant in a large city. He approached us shortly after being seated, explained some dishes for the my students, brought our orders promptly and accurately and kept our drinks filled. He stopped by several times to check on us - not hovering, just attentive - and added a lot to our enjoyment. What's more, I was able to see that he did the same thing with at least 5 other tables in the room. Having spent most of my working life in the hospitality industry, I am very attuned to service. Any restaurant would be lucky to have him working for them. Both of the exchange students also commented upon it.
