“GOOD WINE--COOL CAVE”
Review of Cave Vineyard

Cave Vineyard
Reviewed June 26, 2013

Nice, informative hostess at tasting--good range of wines. Buy the jalapeno cheddar cheese spread and some crackers with your wine and take a walk to the cave for a cool snack break. Just remember to wipe the water off the table and chairs before you sit down. Nice place to relax out of the sun and just listen to the running water sounds. Just a note to the owners--you might consider putting the purchased wine in plastic bags because when the paper bag gets wet in the cave the bottom falls out and so does the wine. Had a great time--Thank you Cave Vineyards!

Thanks for the tip regarding wet paper bags! We'll be sure to offer plastic to those folks taking their wine down to the cave. Glad you enjoyed your visit!

This place is unique, but we didn't really feel it was worth the drive. The staff is very friendly. The wine is so-so. There is nothing really unique about it and it is a little over priced. They don't have many reds to choose from. The cave was neat, but we were disappointed to learn that they don't host events in the cave and that is man-made. It is worth the stop, but only if you are already in the area.

We are sorry to hear that the stop at our family's winery was not what was expected. Most disappointing is that you were told that the cave is man made. Our saltpeter cave is completely natural. We have done very little to deviate from its natural state. In addition, we do in fact host events inside the cave, some private, some open to the public.

The location was perfect after a hot day! Buy a bottle of wine and relax in the nice and cool cave! The staff was very friendly! The hike back from the cave is a little steep but it is paved and they offer a ride if you need it.

There is a building at the parking lot where you can taste and buy their wines. Inside there is also a room where you can sit and drink your wine if for some reason you don't want to go down to the cave. After tasting all the wines, one stood out that both of us liked the best. We bought a bottle because they ask that you do before going down to the cave, but we knew we wouldn't want to drink the whole thing right then so we also bought a couple glasses worth to enjoy in the cave. They have a small selection of snacks as well. Your typical meat, cheese, crackers, etc. They also bake biscotti on site so we had to try that as well. The cherry and dark chocolate biscotti went beautifully with our red wine.

They put together a nice basket with all of our snacks and wine to walk down to the cave. We were offered a ride down if we wanted but it was a nice day and the walk isn't far at all. Just down the hill, and it was a beautiful path through the woods. The cave is lit up just enough. There's a speaker in the back playing music, but you can only really hear it in the back half of the cave. There's seating all through the cave and also a deck just outside of it.

We really enjoyed our stop here very much. Perfect if you want to sit back and slow down for a bit.

Take the time to see and enjoy Cave Winery. They had good wines, local cheeses and very friendly staff. They have a biscotti bar, but we didn't try it. If you buy a wine, which was not hard to do with their selection you can take a short hike to an amazing cave where they have tables, chairs and even a deck to sit out on to enjoy you wine with your food or theirs. We went to the back of the cave and even saw two bats hanging from the ceiling. Well woth visiting this unique place.
