The place is huge. The food isn't worth what they charge. It's just par at best. It is a very basic menu. Yes I know it's a winery and yes it's good wine. If your into the sights in the country this is very nice.

We did a tour of the wineries in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. Crown Valley is the largest. We enjoyed all of them and spent two days visiting them, sitting on patios and just relaxing. We enjoyed Crown Valley. It has a nice patio, a deli so we could grab sandwiches (most others you can get cheese and crackers, Chaumette winery has a restaurant, reservations highly recommended). Crown Valley has a small gift shop and the day we were there, live music! The patio overlooked a beautiful scenery of a field growing grapes. The wine was so good. Learning that Missouri has some exceptional and delicious wines and wineries. Ste. Genevieve is definitely worth the time to visit and take in the wineries. Many are located on the same road, so it's an easy drive to go from one to the next. Just have a designated driver! Up interstate 55, about 35 miles, is the town of Kimmswick. Very nice little shops. Ste. Genevieve and Kimmswick are both historic.

Spent an evening at the Coffman House Bed and Breakfast on our visit to the area (a part of the Crown Valley Winery). The stay included breakfast at the Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary. The house was very clean and we had two separate bedrooms that adjoined so our daughter had her own room. Staff was very friendly. We also scheduled a tour of the Tiger Sanctuary for after breakfast. You can also stay at the Tiger Sanctuary Bed and Breakfast rooms which are located inside of the sanctuary. There website is a little confusing, but we enjoyed our stay.

I always enjoy visiting Crown Valley although it's not my favorite in the area (I am a fan of the Cave Winery). It is always hopping, good bands, fun times. It is true that you cannot take in any outside food or drinks and you do pay for the wine tastings. Their wines are not my favorite, but to each his own. I still have fun!

Yes, you do have to pay for tastings, but that is true of almost all of the wineries around Ste. Genevieve. If you don't want to pay for tastings, you will need to tour wineries elsewhere. The staff was very pleasant, especially the ladies behind the bar. The view is beautiful and they have a deli inside. The samples they give are very generous, more than what you would get at a free tasting.
