“Outstanding geology & scenery”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

This site deserves its status as a recognized natural area. The 2-mile trail goes along sandstone outcrops, arches, "balds", along two creeks, a couple of fern festooned bluffs, a thin shelf waterfall. What a treat to eyes and ears.
Wear hiking boots, take water, and enjoy! This trail is moderately difficult, with many ups and downs.

“Love to hike here”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

We have been hiking Pickle Springs for 20+ years. It is a great hike. It is totally do-able for families with elementary age kiddos, we ended up carrying our younger ones at times. Please be careful, rocks and natural paths can be slippery or rough terrain. Very great natural hiking.

“A cool retreat!”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

We didn't have a map and had not been here before so we had no idea where we were going. We didn't pay much attention to the sign that was posted at the beginning. Our one hour hike ended up being about two hours but we weren't in a hurry and enjoyed all of the natural little surprises that we found along the way. The ups and downs on the trail were gradual, but there were many of these. All of the trees kept us well shaded. This would be a place that I would visit again if I lived nearby.
