“Quiet stay on a Wintry weekend”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

My wife and I stayed one night after hiking at Hawn State Park. Karen and her husband were very kind and helpful. After a day of winter hiking the whole experience at Main Street was pleasant. Plenty of books, games etc. to enjoy in the common areas. Breakfast was delicious and complete. I am sure there are other quality B&B's in St. Genevieve, but we will choose Main Street again on our next visit!

We absolutely love this house. The owners are great, too, and breakfast was delicious both mornings of our stay. There isn't a whole lot to do in Sainte Genevieve, but that was one of the reasons we went there. We just enjoyed hanging out, reading, playing some games, and talking to some of the other guests. Unfortunately, the place is up for sale. Hopefully it will continue on as a B&B with owners who are equally as good as the current ones.

It had been years since I've stayed in a B & B and thought St. Genevieve would be the perfect location to try it again. I certainly made the right choice with the Main Street B & B. Very quaint, clean, quiet and good service to top it all off. The breakfast each morning was excellent. The owner Karen took great care to serve special dietary items to several of the guests which was pretty amazing that she was willing to take the time. I found out by accident that I chose the right weekend to be there, the fourth Friday of every month is an Art Walk which was fun. The next day was an annual event called Heritage Days. We ate dinner the first night at St. Gemme B & B which was great with excellent service. The second night we traveled 20 miles into wine country and ate at the Chaumette Winery which was pricey but also very good. The chef uses as much of the local beef and vegetables as possible.

My husband & I have stayed in many B & B's over the years and this one was one of our least favorites. We left before breakfast because we felt so out of place.

The inn is beautiful and tidy. Rooms are decorated nicely. Location is great. It was very quiet.

Ste Gevevieve is a nice little town, but there isn't much to do. You will have to travel into Farmington if you are looking for entertainment.

Room Tip: There are a lot of stairs, so if you need easy access, be sure to ask which floor your room is on.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Main Street Inn, and thank you for the compliments regarding your room and the physical features of the inn. We are sorry that you didn't enjoy your evening in Ste. Genevieve. It is a very quiet little town which many find to be one of its best features.

We do wish you had stayed for breakfast and interacted with some of the other guests although we understand that you had a family commitment.

We were looking for a weekend away for my husband’s birthday and I found this lovely B&B run by Ken & Karen. This inn has been lovingly restored including with some green features like a geothermal HVAC system. The modern amenities, including a refrigerator for guests tucked away, are made to blend with the historic feel of the building. The refrigerator is a nice touch should you want to cool ice packs for a picnic lunch. The inn is located on Main Street as its name suggests and it is convenient to everything in the historic part of town. The breakfasts served in the dining room were delicious and included local products. You had an opportunity to meet the other guests and by the laughter Saturday morning, enjoy good conversation. Speaking of good conversation, each evening at 5:00 guests are invited down to the parlor to enjoy a glass of wine, which was a very pleasant way to get to know the innkeepers, who are very interesting people. Our hosts were able to provide information and tips on things to do or places to go in the area. A well-appointed room, lovely surroundings, delicious food and charming company, one could not ask for better.

Room Tip: We stayed in La Rose, which is located on the 2nd floor at the front of the building overlooking Mai...

The 14 positive reviews of Main St. B&B leave little room for me to add much else. My wife and I and another couple decided to take 3 days for an outing within 250 miles of home. We had some reservations about staying in an old inn due to the extreme heat wave that had set in. We should not have worried as we were cool and comfortable during our stay. The bed in our room was extremely comfortable and the room was very quiet. I had taken a nasty fall on July 4 and spent the day after we got there in our room while everyone else got out. It would be hard to imagine any place where I could have gotten a better day's rest! Ken & Karen were excellent hosts and we highly recommend this beautifully restored inn.

This place was amazing. the care and hard work the owners put in to this place shows. The decor is authentic, romantic, and charming. The unique styles of the rooms and the common areas made me want to stay longer and just spend time in the building. This place is the real deal. The age and grace of the building and the town are well preserved. I highly recommend it.
