Description: Established in 1990 by Hank and Jackie Johnson, Chaumette Vineyards & Winery is located in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, home of the first colonial settlement on the west side of the Mississippi River by the French in the early 1730’s. Chaumette sits on 310 acres of land, 30 acres of which are grapevines, approximately seventy miles south of St. Louis, in the Ozark Mountain American Viticultural Area. The region, distinguished by rolling hills and the Saline Creek River Valley, is known to have a temperature differential of more than 5 degrees (warmer) compared to other Missouri wine regions, which is considered to be advantageous. Here at Chaumette, we are dedicated to handcrafting award-winning wines of distinction, and our diverse portfolio reflects the finest examples in breadth and depth of Midwest wine, capable of competing in the international marketplace. We grow varieties such as Norton, Missouri’s state grape; Chardonel, a hybrid of Chardonnay; Traminette, similar in style to one of its parent grapes, Gerwurztraminer; Chambourcin and Vignoles, all French-American hybrids. Chaumette is a boutique winery, producing between three and five thousand cases annually of mostly dry wines, with some semi-dry and semi-sweet styles as well as vintage port and late harvest wines in some years. Chaumette Winery has is a premier wine resort destination, with a spa, private villas for overnight stays, a pool and a full-service restaurant, among more traditional winery amenities. Chaumette’s Tasting Room is open to the public year-round and offers live entertainment outdoors in warmer months.

I got married at the Barn at Chaumette on 8/31/13. The wedding and reception space was beautiful and the day of staff was very helpful in making my vision come to life. The issue that I had with was the service that we received while planning our wedding. Shortly after we decided on the Barn at Chaumette the wedding coordinator left the company and we were left to deal with the winery owner in our wedding planning. She was rude, unprofessional, and very unaccommodating to me, my family, and even my vendors. I had to ask 3-4 times before getting simple things like a picture of the arbor that they allow people to use for wedding ceremonies. Also, she hung up on my mother and offended one of my vendors so much that she told us that she would never work with Chaumette again. Luckily, a new wedding coordinator was hired shortly before my wedding and she was much more responsive and helpful. All in all, this is a wonderful wedding venue but be prepared for some headaches along the way.

Thank Allison J

Staying at White Cliff Manor, some of the guests encouraged us to dine there during our stay. Saturday evening we made late reservations. We ended up sitting out on the balcony even though it was a little brisk out. Service was friendly and good. Food was very good with a good presentation. Biggest drawback of the whole evening was candle (s) kept going out and the light above us was out so it was a little challenging to see what we were eating. Staff did say that the light had been out.. (why not replace?)
Other than that.. as I said, good wine, good service, good food... great evening for the 4 of us.

Had a really nice time. Ate lunch out on the porch; although service was very slow, the food was good and the guitar player was also quite good. Wine was decent.

... what more could you ask for. Super friendly staff, the chef came out to bring us our food. The view is stunning. We had a wonderful relaxing lunch at Chaumette. We had the soup, heirloom tomato special and bison burgers. The food was prepared perfectly.
