I love it when you pull off the highway for some lunch and you find a place like this. The pulled pork sandwich was great - this BBQ is sweet and tangy not like South Carolina BBQ. My companion had the fried catfish dinner and the fish was absolutely perfect fried in a light cornmeal crust. Standard sides were satisfactory. Service quick and efficient and you can't beat the prices - great value. You know that when you see the place crowding up with locals and working guys around 12:00.
I wish I could go back and try some of the other meats, the ribs look great as did the brisket.
When I say the atmosphere is very good I mean for a BBQ place.

Having had KC BBQ many many times I will tell you this place is worth your time if in the area. Prices are good and the food is as well. Not my favorite place but it is well worth a visit if you like BBQ in a basic environment. I like ordering meat by the pound at a counter, no waitress, simple. This is that for sure. We will visit many times while here.

Here is something you hardly get a restaurants anymore ( homemade fries ) and they are very good. So, if you want some great BBQ and like homemade fries this is the place to eat.

The food here is very good, with a variety of all types of meat and sides. The restaurant isn't a lot to look at on the inside; it's about what you would expect for a BBQ joint. The portions were ample and the price was very reasonable. The sides were good. Note that fries are separate, and they are worth ordering. They appeared to be hand-made shaved potatoes, and they were delicious. The staff was friendly and the whole experience was casual and relaxed.
I would eat here again.

When you walk in, you order at the counter. I ordered the combination plate with beef and ham. Both had good taste, but were on the dry side. The sauce had good flavor. My wife had the wings. They tasted good and were crispy under the sauce. Just too much sauce. Our sides were pretty plain. There was nothing special about the hillbilly beans. Same with the potato salad. The portions were plentiful. The prices are in line with other like restaurants. The restaurant was pretty clean and bright. There is a big TV in the dining area.
