The Drury Hotel is located directly across the street from the venerable Saint Louis Union Station, which during WW2, was the busiest train station in the world and played a role in bringing together my Mom & Dad together during the war. Dad took basic training at Scott Field (now Scott AFB) in '42 and met my (future) Mom at a USO dance the night before he shipped out for the Pacific Theater. They were married in 1946.
The building housing the hotel was originally built in 1907 and was designed by Theodore Link, the same architect who designed Union Station. It was originally operated by the YMCA and catered to railway workers.
Our group of 34 people all stayed at the hotel and had the use of a meeting room for the weekend as our gathering place. The staff was professional and accommodating. The rooms clean and comfortable. Convenient, secure parking in an adjacent garage is available as well as indoor pool and hot tub facilities. The free breakfast was well supplied and the free happy hour (up to 3 beverage servings) was an added delight.
The Drury is within walking distance of Metrolink, the STL rapid transit service providing easy transport to various destinations in STL City & County (including the airport) as well as "the East Side" (Illinois) across the river, so getting to the hotel is convenient and affordable. The hotel also provides a "courtesy driver" who, if available, will pick you up from the Union Station Metrolink stop and deliver your party and luggage to the hotel. Call upon your arrival at the airport to let the hotel know of your impending arrival.
Welcome to Saint Louis, my hometown and the baseball Capitol of MLB. The Yankees have won, by far, the most World Series Titles and deserve respect but they play in an inferior League. The "Senior Circuit" Cardinals are the only NL franchise who has played the Yankees multiple times (5) and can boast of a winning record in World Series play against the vaunted Bronx Bombers. And we only had one team leave town (the Browns). New York had 2 (Giants & Dodgers). Both with a greater history of success, yet, they left anyway. Draw your own conclusions.
Also, our Zoo puts anything in New York to shame. A review of the Zoo, and the renovated Gateway Arch, are in train. Just got to revisit each to comply with "review regs."
A note (pun intended) to Blues NHL fans: The Drury is an easy walk through Union Station to the Enterprise Center, the home of the NHL Blues. If I'm coming in from out of town to support the team boasting the 2nd best uniforms in the NHL (hate to admit it but only the Blackhawks sweater is better which, as a born Blues fan is tough to say but is the truth) my first choice for convenient accommodations would be Drury Inn Union Station, no contest.

I love the inside of this place. It felt like you were in a train station but a hotel. I loved the check in desk where they still had original architecture. The halls and spaces were unique and felt like you were in hideaways. Our room was clean, spacious and on a corner so more room. I always love Drury Inn because of the food and drinks they provide for free apart of your stay.

This hotel is very clean and comfortable, the rooms are quite spacious and have the usual amenities. There are interesting details around the decor as it is an older building.
We had access to the Happy Hour from 5-30 to 7-00 which gives you three free drinks from a choice at the bar and a hot buffet which was good as there were a few choices jacket potato, rice, chicken and salad, the salsa and nachos were very tasty and there is also a popcorn machine
The staff here are great so friendly and helpful and go that extra mile for quality customer service

Chose this hotel mostly because of proximity to SLU and thoroughly enjoyed the stay! Wonderfully helpful staff across the board. You can tell they have a passion for helping the customer feel welcome and spoiled. Parking was $9 extra but reasonable. Beautiful location and utilization/conversion of old train station. Will return many times if our son chooses SLU!
