“Drury Inn Union Station St Louis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

Just stayed one night at the Drury Inn Union Station St Louis whilst on a Cosmos tour. This was by far the best hotel we stayed in during our tour. Great bedrooms, great breakfast and even welcome buffet and drinks on arrival. Only problem was that the location was not ideal for a one night stay. If you are staying in St Louis longer then don't hesitate on staying at this great hotel.

While it is well situated within walking distance of restaurants and sporting events, it feels worn. It was clean, and the service was friendly. The breakfast had good variety including a waffle station, muffins, yogurt, fruit, and juice. We didn't take advantage of the complimentary happy hour or popcorn, but appreciate their effort. You get what you pay for.

DruryHotels, Manager at Drury Inn St. Louis at Union Station, responded to this review, November 7, 2013
Dear Carol L,
Thank you for choosing the Drury Inn Union Station, and for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to see that you found value in your stay, as we strive to provide our guests with friendly service, clean accommodations and quality meal options during breakfast and our 5:30 Kickback every evening.

Being a historic downtown property over a century old, we understand that our building shows its age. While that is part of its appeal, we do our best to ensure that our facility is clean and well-maintained so that our guests feel comfortable during their stay. And we are constantly evaluating new ways to incorporate modern renovations that complement the historic ambiance that our hotel provides.

We thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to accommodate you again the next time you are in town!

Sincerely,
Drury Inn Union Station Management Team

This was our first hotel on this trip and the others will have a difficult time living up to the drury and the excellent staff. From the desk staff to their hospitality staff all were excellent. From helping with directions to making sure every thing was perfect. We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a first floor suite with a fun view of union station.

The comfortable beds made up for the extremely small and cramped bathroom, although there was a grab bar and handy shampoo dispenser in the tub which eliminated the need for tiny bottles and slippery bars of soap. Certainly would be helpful to have more than one luggage rack in a room with two beds. Nice to have the free snacks and drinks in the evening, and once the breakfast was finally served, we enjoyed that also. On weekends, the food is not started until 7 a.m. which meant quite a rush to eat and get on our bus in time for other scheduled events.

We are across the river in Illinois and we always stay here when we plan a few days in St. Louis for baseball, hockey or whatever. We consider this the best kept secret in St. Louis. Close and easy access to everything downtown. Staff is always friendly. You can make a light meal on the 5:30-7:00 p.m. hospitality menu. Breakfast is always great, too. Free parking and mostly covered parking. We just love our St. Louis home away from home.

We stay here frequently when there's a late concert or show we're attending. We're never disappointed. The hotel is an old YMCA from the "Train Days" and the basic structure of the hotel means there are pillars throughout to support the floors. Because of this, the rooms are not all standard. Most recently, our room was pretty much wall-to-wall bed. There was room for a chair and the entertainment center but no desk or anything else. One other time, we got an inside room with no window (a bit confining - ask about that).

Most of the time, the rooms are decent sized. Every room, no matter what size, is very clean. Service is always outstanding. The "kick off" at 5:30 features decent food (varies by day) and cocktails/wine/beer. It's also free. There is a pretty full free breakfast and free covered parking. Although we never visited, the swimming pool and whirlpool look inviting.

There are a few places nearby for entertainment and dining but not a lot. If you're attending a concert at Scott Trade, it's an easy walk.

Overall, it's a place I recommend.

Room Tip: Be sure you say you want a room with a window. There are a few that make me feel like I'm in a s...

We enjoyed a short stay at this hotel. Nice, clean and comfortable, and we had the pleasure of a complimentary breakfast, relatively unusual in the US and welcome. Bonuses, if you appreciate railway history, are the beautiful scale models on display in the hotel, and the redeveloped Union Station train shed next door.
