Owner description: The Fabulous Fox Theatre first opened in 1929 as a movie palace in William Fox's motion picture empire. The theatre was reopened in 1982, and today it is one of the most exquisite venues in the country to enjoy live touring Broadway shows, concerts, and comedians. We hope you'll visit us for an upcoming show or one of our guided tours!

“Magnificent Venue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2009

We were in St. Louis in October to see Phantom of the Opera. This was our second visit to the Fox Theater. It is worth the price of a balcony seat for ANY show to see this place. It is truly an architectural masterpiece. The acoustics are fantastic, but the lobby and seating area are phenomenal. Parking is an issue. Arrive early.

“Beware the Tour Guide”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2009

We recently took a tour of The Fox Theatre. it is a magnificent building, full of interesting architecture and with a fascinating story behind it. HOWEVER, the tour was supposed to be an hour long. Our tour guide, who possessed a wealth of information but had no idea how to organize it or present it, went on and on and on. Much of her information was interesting, but there were way too many personal references. We really did not want to hear about her trips to see shows with her perfectly behaved angelic grandchildren, nor did we need to know about every show she's ever seen there, nor were we interested in where her seaon seats were or how much she had paid for them. 90 minutes into our one-hour tour I asked her how much longer she was going to be. She was offended by my question and got very testy and snippy with me. Others in our group thanked me for asking, as they were getting weary of the tour by then as well. We stayed another 10 minutes, but by then it was obvious that she was just going to do what she wanted, so we left. I understand that the guides are volunteers, but The Fox really needs to get control of them so as not to drive people away from the tours.

“An Amazing Classic Theatre”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2009

I traveled to St. Louis last weekend with a friend to see the Broadway tour of Spring Awakening at the Fox Theatre. Although we were rather disappointed with St. Louis in general, the Fox was amazing. We couldn't believe our eyes when we walked into that grand lobby. What an architectural marvel. Never seen anything like it in any city. The program called it Siamese Byzantine, which is a good description.

The auditorium was massive and just as lavish. St. Louis is so fortunate to have this theatre restored and operating. Here in Oklahoma City, our historic theatres were all torn down during an ill-advised 1970s urban renewal project. I will definitely come back to see another show at the Fox.

“Very Rude Employees”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2008

We were in St. Louis over the Christmas holiday, and we were really looking forward to our visit to the Fox Theater to see Wicked. While the show did not disappoint (it's a must see) the staff and overall customer service at the Fox Theater was terrible. We had to pick up our tickets at Will Call, and the workers at the Box Office could not have been more rude! It was as if we were inconvenicening them by asking for our tickets!!! Once inside, the theater is beautiful, but the crowd control non-exisistent. And don't even try to eat at the grand buffet - there is nothing grand about it . . . . besides the street it is on. At least we had a nice view of the street from our dinner seats, but we were wishing we were at the fun looking restaurant across the street!!
