From the moment you walk into this hotel and speak with great staff, you realize you are in for a great experiance. The bell staff had us drive our vehicle around front and grabbed all of our luggage and coolers, took them up to our room. The room was normal, but the climate control at your figure tips was a huge plus. It was clean. The bellmen we also helpful with ideas of traveling throughout town for less money. The restaurant was great the first morning. The breakfast buffet was delicious without any comparisons. The waitress and hostess were sweet and made the eating experiance wonderful. The second morning, the waitress (older one) wasnt very attentive. But I have a feeling by observing the other waitresses there that this one person was an exception not the rule. This place was well worth the money due to access to the metrolink, ambiance, helpful staff and overall comfort of the room. Plus you didnt have the problems of overcrowding like you do at downtown hotels. I have been to Union Station before and the only drawbacks I can see is there is sooooo much space and there are alot of shops that arent there anymore. The view outside the window was of the inner part of union station and an abandoned shop, even though views from a hotel room arent that important minus the 3-4 minutes tops you look out them. I hope they revitalize it! From now on, our future trips to St Louis we are staying at this hotel!!!

My wife and I were thoroughly impressed with this wonderful Hotel. The Lobby was breathtaking, and really gave you a feel of life 100 years ago in the age of the Grand train stations. The cocktails and food were excellent... very relaxing having cocktails with family and friends in such a majestic setting. Our service was always spot on when needed. Our Concierge rooms were very tastefully decorated, and very spacious, and the attendants very accomodating. I highly recommend this Hotel

Was a very good deal on the room and the lobby is cool, but this place is dank and looking neglected. Definitely not a 4 star hotel... I wouldn't pay more than 50 bucks to stay here. Smelly room, lots of various night noises.

St. Louis Union Station was one of the nation's grandest railway stations in a bygone era and it has been faithfully preserved as a hotel and shopping mall. The exterior is a classic with a castle-like style and tall clock tower. Be sure to walk across the street and view the station with the magnificent fountain in the foreground. The lobby area of the hotel is located in the old waiting room which has a towering ceiling with ornate gold leaf trim. Rooms are located in a more modern wing behind the original station building and overall rooms are adequate. They are, however, somewhat small and look about the same as they did when I stayed here in 1993 when Omni ran the hotel. That is, no major improvements have been made. Nothing bad, just nothing special either. On the plus side, the old train shed has been retained as covered parking and many specialty shops are located in the small mall between the hotel and parking. The Metrolink light rail train stops close to the hotel which is a great way to ride right to Busch Stadium for a Cardinals game or to the airport without renting a car. The main down side for us was the incompetent bellman who turned over our ice chest and drenched some papers in a box on the luggage cart. As he unloaded the cart I noticed we were missing one of our pillows...retarcing our steps, he and I found it just outside the elevator where he dropped it. Overall, this is a nice hotel because of history and location.

The proximity of the hotel to the mall (it's right in the lobby) led me to feel unsafe at times. There is a lot of riff raff walking around near the hotel. I got an unpleasant feeling up until I was safely "behind the gate" of the hotel. Yes, there is a iron gate that you must insert your key into, in order to get into the hotel from the mall. Yes, it made me feel more secure. But it also reminded me that it is like that for a reason. Outside of the hotel (in the mall) you will find that the stairwells, and elevator corridors smell like urine, and are very unseemly.

The hotel was booked, so we stayed in the extra room, that connects the suites. Nice room, but we slept on the roll away beds and the couch. We agreed to take the room. The service was VERY nice! It was a very nice room, coffee machine, table, and T.V. We didn't sleep well, but we had a GREAT breakfast. A big buffet with fancy tables. At night, Music filled the bottom floor, where dinner was served. We would stay again, If the normal rooms were open. Enjoyed union station--the water--the food--eating outside.
