The main lobby is spectacular and perhaps a tad deceptive as the remainder of te hotel is fairly pedestrian, handy access to the light rail.

Room was adequate and clean but nothing to write home about.

Have a drink in the main lobby it's a beautiful place!

This hotel is in a beautiful 1890s old train station. The outside of the building and the lobby are impressive. Once you are actually in your hotel room however, it is just your basic (circa 1990?) Mariott. The bed was comfortable. My room window overlooked the inside of the train station (now a dying mall) so the inability to see outside was a little claustrophic. As other have mentioned, the room desk needs to be updated with a surge protector and multi outlet strip as I had to charge my cell phone in the bathroom while my computer lived on the desk. Sevice was good. The bellmen/doormen were exceptionally nice, friendly, and always there when I needed them. I ate in the restaurant twice and had room service once. The food and service were good. (I recommend the corn/clam chowder and the chopped salad). The biggest disappointment to me was that I had no idea down town St Louis was so dead. There was no where to go in walking distance. There was only 1 or 2 interesting shops in Union Station. For better shopping, the bellman directed me to the Galleria, about 15 minutes away on the subway. Being a woman traveling alone in the evening in a city with a high crime rate, I was leery of that, but was assured it was safe, and it was. The trains had helpful security staff at each station as well as on the train, and everywhere was lit well, even the freeway underpass I had to walk through to get to the mall from the station. $4.50 round trip! Well done St Louis!

There is a well hidden elevator. If you come in from the self park area behind union station, proceed to the grand hall area but instead of walking up the stairs, there is an elevator to the right of the public men's restroom in the mall lobby. It will take you up to the registration level.

This was a great place to stay. The location is wonderful and what an interesting place!! We had a 16 and 9 year old with us. The 9 year old loved that it looks like a castle. Both children (and adults) thought itw as pretty cool to be staying in the former train station. It has all kinds of shops and places to eat so that is no problem. Front desk staff and door men were very helpful answering questions or making recommendations. Room was a little small but we expected that being a historical hotel. Used valet parking and had no problem, vehicle was secure. Absolutely will return - I don't think anything could top this place just because of all the variety it offers.

Stayed for two nights for some quiet time to study. For just a standard room, it was spacious and had a roomy bathroom as well. Was nice and quiet. Room service was prompt and food was excellent.

Nice gym; had small hot towels available which I thought was a nice amenity.
Union Station mall had other food places, the Pita Place was very good as was Charleys; didn't see that the mall had much for shopping.
