We stayed here for a date night to Peabody Opera House. The Doubletree is very close so it is very convenient for lodging after the show.

The pros: The hotels art deco architecture is worth visiting itself. Our room was in the old historic part of the hotel and it was very comfortable, quiet and clean. The price was very good but you will pay for parking $24 for valet. It wasn't as bad as it sounds though since the room rate was low to start with. The grand lobby, the restaurant were all very historic. Worth a visit even if you are not staying. Kids wull love tge whispering arch.

The bad: Union Station is a little past its glory days with loitering panhandlers. They will accost you as you go to neighboring restaurants. We had an executive suite but the only had limited hours so we were unable to visit. Needs better hours to be a real lounge most are open 24/7.

Definately will visit again

I travel alot and never have i experienced such a high level of quality and generosity as I have experienced with this group of people at the Union Station Hilton. Randy and Doug are exceptional. They go out of there way to make you feel as though they are family and will take very good care of you.

As mentioned in other reviews, the service was excellent. The front desk was very helpful and courteous. the valet staff was prompt and helpful. I ordered room service and it was at the door very quickly. The food was hot and very good. The lobby of the hotel was beautiful and nicely redone. You have direct access to good food and shopping without going outside in Union Station. The room was large with a four poster bed and a huge bathroom that included a bidet. The shower was a little awkward since in there were 2 marble steps up to it and was slippery when exiting.
The hotel would have gotten a five except the bathroom fittings were rusty which made a great room feel a little shabby. The room had a 32' flat screen but there were no HD channels, not a big deal but something most travelers have come to expect, especially since I was there the night of the BCS championship game. Overall the room was just ok but I will be back based on the service and the 4 rating is based mostly on how well I was treated as a guest

Our family stayed at the beautiful St. Louis Union Station hotel on New Year's night. It was very quiet, the service was outstanding (especially the valet parking because we arrived in an RV and they provided secure overnight parking for us at a very reasonable rate). Thanks for making our short stay so enjoyable. We look forward to coming back and staying with you again.

Hubby got a "real Deal" on either Travelocity or Expedia for a Saturday night, December 22nd, at the Union Station. We were excited because we knew we could easily walk to the MU/IL game after the pep rally! Everything from valet boys to the warm chunky chocolate cookies and fun front desk girls was super - what a first impression! Because we added a second night onto our stay via Travelocity/Expedia, we were told that we'd either need to call down to the front desk or stop by in person to check out and check right back in....seemed a little strange, but we followed the instructions. Shortly after settling into our room, we received a welcome call and stating if we needed anything before checking out in the morning to call....?
We got an early start on the morning the next day, returning to our room about 3:30PM. UG- the room was just as we left it but the maid's cart was down the hall....must be running a little late. We left for the rally and the game. When we returned at 8PM the room was still unfreshened. Rather than call the front desk and run the risk of having cold St. Louis style pizza, we waited until morning to vent. The front desk was very polite when they received my husband's phone call and explained it was because of two separate Travelocity/Expedia reservations and a snaffu in their reservation software. Don't think I can buy that story, as if that were the case, they would have disabled our entry card and cleaned the room from top to bottom. Since our room had already been paid for they waived valet parking charges for both nights and offered us two breakfasts in the restaurant. Once again the staff was very accommodating, but the operational management seemed a little off. My husband also mentioned that the water had run all night in the room next to us and wondered if maintainance would want to check that out so there wasn't damage and to prevent an increase in water bill....guess those weren't valid concerns. The mall at Union Station is basically gone - how very sad. Lots of young people hanging out - a little scary. I think there are new owners so I hope they're able to get on top of the things I've read about in the other reviews and the few things that happened during our stay. It's a gorgeous place and one that holds lots of memories for my husband and I....I'll give them another chance.

from the valet parking staff to front desk to housekeeping to restaurant - service was top notch and far exceeded my expectations. everyone was extremely helpful, pleasant, and eager to assist. I was there over the New Years Eve weekend and it was extremely busy, yet the staff was great.

the hotel was okay. there was nothing wrong with the room - nothing outstanding either. the lobby, restaurant and hall were impressive.

But it is rare that I say I'll return to a hotel based on the service alone, but for this location that is the case. they made up for the lackluster shopping in the union station, location of hotel, and long walks in hallways to get to rooms.

overall, i enjoyed the short visit and would definitely return.

We found a great deal on a slow night through Expedia, and I would recommend this highly anytime the deal shows up. The staff were all extremely helpful and courteous. The lobby and common areas are stunning. The small mall is also a nice bonus. We stayed in the "historic" part, and enjoyed a nice big room. One negative is location - there is not much within comfortable walking distance, but there is good connection by train. Physically, the building needs some TLC: curtains, carpets, wall coverings are showing wear. In general, it seems to be downtown pricing, but not downtown convenience. The staff does an outstanding effort to make the stay great, but something is still missing...

Room Tip: The rooms in the old section are really big and nice.
