“Better Than the Usual”
Reviewed February 26, 2012

Good location for site seeing in downtown or going to the sports venues. Union Station shops are a little worn down- tee shirt shops, jewelry & the like. Decent restaurants without needing a cab: small but comfortable Hard ROck Cafe, Landry's Seafood, also a food court. My room was spacious & I could even skip rope for a work out due to the high ceilings. The rooms wrap around the Grand Lobby and it's a magnificent structure with stained glass. Had breakfast at the Station Grille. Food, service and decor were good. Took a little bit to get around the hotel. The health club was so-so with common cardio equipment, some weightmachine and dumbells. The bathrooms in the health clube room were temporarily out of service while there. I just enjoyed it because it was different than the usual cookie-cutter large hotel. One thing: outside the Union Station is a metro station and it seemed a little dicey.

Room Tip: Get a room near the conceirge level which is on the 3rd floor, if you are a Marriott Gold or higher...

Rooms were nice. Location seems good. Near Baseball staduim and next to the Hockey arena.

Hands down the best concierge lounge I've been in. Lettuce wraps with peanuts and chicken. Starbucks.

I would stay here everytime.

Checked into this hotel Friday, Feb 17 to attend a concert at Scottrade Center. It was totally a great experience. Outdoor bellmen were terrifically helpful and friendly. Room was really big and roomy. Huge bathroom. We got a great rate w/parking for showing our concert tickets. (Need to specify this when you book) Great location. Walking distance to concert and restaurants. Union station itself has really gone down hill from years ago but the hotel is a good place to stay. Beds were wonderful.

My family and I stayed at the St. Louis Marriott Union Station in March of 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. While the rooms themselves are more then adequate but not spectacular, the overall feel of the restored, historic train station hotel truly makes it a special place. The Grand Hall is simply beautiful, restored to its grandeur. We really enjoyed having drinks and appetizers in the Grand Hall, imagining what train travel would have been like in the early 1900s. We are staying again next month and are really looking forward to another visit to the Union Station.

The lobby of the hotel is stunning. Beautiful. It is the old Union Station. It has kept many of the original features. It is just like walking back in time. The bedrooms are not in the building - they are in new building built inside the former "train sheds" behind the main building. So the rooms are new, in new buildings. They are good - the standard one would expect from a Marriott - clean, well laid out, comfortable ....There are a number of restaurants in the complex. But option is not huge. There is a shopping mall of sorts, but most of they seem to be sports memorability shops and empty most of the time. It is not within walking distance to downtown, or to anything of any interest.

Coming back from a visit with the father-in-law I decided to stop with the family in St.Louis
Searching on-line for a family friendly hotel with alot of room to move while in your room. You
can pretty much walk through the city from here. Small mall next door with some resturants and short distance to the ARCH. Landrys for dinner was an excellent choice. Upgrade if you can,to the Concierge Level , it is well worth it. Breakfast Buffet in the morning, drink service thru out the day and horderves, cheese, sweets in the evening. The lobby area is full of history regarding the train station. Lots of pictures and articles. Our kids had fun reading about the history of our hotel and who stayed at the hotel before and looked those people up on the computer. Our daughter wrote a paper for school on our trip to ST.Louis

Room Tip: ask for a suite if traveling with families

We recently stayed at this hotel for two nights while in St. Louis for business. Normally we book at Hilton properties, but this Marriott stay may converted us. First of all the hotel is in an old historic train station, which has a small adjoining mall and food court attached. The architecture is stunning. There are also restaurants close on the back side, like Hard Rock and Landry’s Seafood House. The hotel rooms seem to be in two areas, one closer to the mall side and the concierge side. The mall side is newer construction, but the concierge side, though older has been remodeled more recently.

We were in the concierge section via an unsolicited upgrade, which I highly recommend even if you pay more. The breakfast in the morning was awesome…eggs, bacon, cereal, juices, water, coffee, pastry, fruit, etc. The beverages are available all day. They put out some hot and cold treats in the evening including salad, cheese and candy. The folks manning the lounge were so very nice and couldn’t do enough for you. Great Customer Service!

The room was nice with a flat screened T.V. and a wet bar, but our refrigerator was kind of out in the foyer area of the room and not under the counter in the wet bar – not sure why, but no big deal. We had asked for extra towels in our reservation, but since we had been upgraded we did not complain. Took a while to get the heat low enough, but all in all no complaints.

Would definitely stay here again!
