Caleco's was just around the corner from a TGIF, and it was a more local experience than a chain. Menu was large. I wasn't impressed with my food (fried fish and fries)--soggy and weirdly seasoned. I've had "flash fried," as this was described, and it wasn't. Think Gorton's with some extra seasoning tossed in. But the serving size was big, and the meal was hot and filling. And the popover was yummy. I'd still choose this over TGIF.

We went to Caleco's because we were staying downtown and needed to find someplace open late. A guy working at the hotel recommended this place. They only serve appetizers and pizza late night, We ordered potato skins and nachos with beef. A few minutes before the potato skins came out to our table, our server told us they ran out of sour cream and they could substitute it with ranch. Minutes later while the server was at another table, another person brought out the food with ranch. It would have been nice to know they ran out BEFORE we ordered. A soft drink was $2.25, Potato Skins $7.39, and Beef Nachos $6.79. They added Gratuity automatically, so PAY ATTENTION! The credit card receipt had a line for tip, so I bet people who don't look carefully double tip. The bottom of my receipt has the following "18% gratuity added after 9pm and to all parties of six or more." Food was edible but nothing to rave about.

Never have had a bad meal in this place. Friendly bartenders and really good food. Pizza is thin crust and good.

This was our second time to eat at Caleco's. The menu is large and varied with a predominance of Italian style dishes. The wait time quoted was reasonable for a Saturday night and ended up being less than we were told. Our server greeted us quickly and was friendly.

Our food was all fresh and at an appropriate temperature when served. The only downside was the garlic-cheese bread which was overpoweringly garlic flavored. I have had this before and do not remember it being so strong. The pasta dishes were well cooked and the sauces flavorful.

Food and beverage totaled about $60 for three of us. The atmosphere is energetic an would not be ideal for a quiet, romantic dinner but is fin with a group. We would definitely eat at Caleco's again when we are in downtown St. Louis in the future.

This place has awesome pizza, but a limitless pricey. The service was terrific. Our server even brought me a free beer! Try the fried pickles--the bomb!
