Found Guido's in a "Best of" list for St. Louis tapas restaurants, so we decided to give it a try over the weekend. If you know "The Hill" area, it is located on Shaw Avenue a few blocks east of Modesto and just across the corner to the southeast of Adriana's. Inside Guido's is one part sports bar (it is all World Cup all of the time right now!), and two parts restaurant. There are a few tables outside as well.
Guido's menu runs the gamut from Spanish tapas to pizza to Italian entrees. There are plenty of beers on tap and a fair wine list. Everything we tried - queso al cabra, solomillo al cabrales, chicken parmesan - was excellent! The food was great, service was decent, and drink refills were always at the ready. (I am already preparing to go back and know what I will order!)
I would recommend this restaurant for business lunches, meeting friends, large groups (just make reservations - the back room is quite large!), or even a date night. I wouldn't say it was quiet or terribly romantic, but it was a fun way to get a little World Cup fever while trying some new dishes and enjoying an afternoon! Please note that Guido's does also offer coupons in the Entertainment book.
