Description: Aya Sofia, St. Louis’ only Turkish restaurant, opened in October 2005 by Turkish Chef Mehmet Yildiz and designer Alicia Aboussie. Our outstanding Turkish cuisine is delicious, fresh, and healthy. We serve lamb, beef, chicken and seafood. Aya Sofia offers a large variety of cold and hot meze (small plates) that are intended to be shared and will complement any of our entrees. Afiyet Olsun (Enjoy your meal)! Aya Sofia has a romantic luxurious atmosphere combined with excellent upscale service and warm Turkish hospitality.

I had the lamb shank while my wife had the Sebzeli Musakka, a veggie version of musakka. Both were wonderful with portions big enough for us to take home leftovers for lunch the next day.

Authentic Turkish food is its hallmark....right from the starters to the main menu there is a wide choice of Turkish cuisine mad with minced beef, lamb, sea food. The seafood starter is ideal for an appetiser which. One in three variants .., fried scallops...tavaa swordfish and grilled shrimps with a generous sprinkling of herbs that adds to the exotic flavouring. The lamb dishes leave a lingering taste well after the food is eaten..the aroma and the succulent meats leave a memorable after taste. The service is fast and efficient. The food is well cooked and served aesthetically to tickle the taste buds for repeat visits. The indoor seating arrangement is a little cramped...but the outdoor seating is ample with nice sunshades for covering from the unpredictable turn in weather conditions. The bar is well stocked and again small.

We dined here for the first time on a Sat. night in July and we'll definitely come back when its cooler so we can dine on the patio. Our waiter Jeff was extremely knowledgeable & very helpful. I highly recommend trying a cold "small plate" and a hot "small plate" to share. Extremely yummy. I actually had a chopped salad of chopped veggies with chicken for my entre which was delish! Very filling with leftovers for the next day. My husband tried one of the ethnic dishes with eggplant & ground beef which was very, very tasty. Don't miss out on the ethnic desserts - winners! My only problem with the restaurant was that it was very noisy so if you are hearing impaired you will have difficulty hearing conversations, but the food is not to be missed!

Loved the food, loved the ambience more! There are seating options outside, though it can get a bit noisy since the area is right next to a busy main road. The service is great and they have good options for vegetarians, too. Overall - good restaurant for a decent price.
