Located in a beautiful old neighborhood of Second-Empire-style row houses, the beautifully restored house is within easy walking distance of Union Station, where my conference was held. I appreciated very much the fast wifi, the delicious and creative breakfasts (not just continental), and the lot next door, which has been turned into a beautiful garden with a koi pond and gazebo for contemplation. The innkeeper is friendly and charming, even by Midwestern standards, and the two dogs that share the property are the sweetest things in the world. Compared to standard hotel accomodations, this was a knockout, full of local flavor, and a perfect retreat from the craziness.

We've been coming to St. Louis for the men's Missouri Valley Conference basketball tournament for the past 15 years. We usually stay downtown in order to be within walking distance of the Savvis Center, Union Station and the Soulard District but after spending the weekend at the Park Avenue Mansion, that is no longer an option! The mansion and gardens are beautiful, the breakfast phenomenal and the hosts are incredible! There is an italian restaurant (good), a micro brew with outdoor seating (very good) and a coffee shop with a very quaint patio in the same block as the B&B! There is also a Mexican restaurant, steakhouse and shops in the 2 block area. The Soulard, Savvis Center, Union Station and Busch Stadium are all within walking distance. Lafayette Park, directly across the street from the mansion, is ideal for walking or running. Look no further for a hotel or bed and breakfast. This is the place to stay!

We just returned from visiting St. Louis to spend time with our son who attends SLU med. school. In the past we've stayed in more generic hotels, but decided to try a B&B this time. Boy did we hit the jackpot when we found The Park Avenue!! This B&B is lovingly restored, filled with antiques and is absolutely gorgeous!
Although it was cold and snowy outside, the owners, Kathy and Mike, made sure that their Mansion was warm and welcoming with fireplaces lit in each room. Our room was huge with high ceilings, a fireplace and a very comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious and bountiful and we enjoyed talking with the owners and guests both mornings. The location is ideal. Beautiful Lafayette Park is across the street and a variety of lovely shops, restaurants and bars are nearby. We especially enjoyed the Chocolate Bar. (Try the chocolate raspberry martini!) We will definately stay at the Park Avenue when we return to St. Louis in the summer. I'm looking forward to sitting in Kathy's beautiful garden!

The Park Avenue Manor is located in a old restored neighborhood about 1.5 miles from downtown. The building is a 3 story architecturally-significant structure decorated in a Victorian style. The Manor is located right across the street from a beautiful park. This neighborhood was once the grandest of all St. Louis neighborhoods and for the very wealthy. After falling into disrepair, it has made an incredible comeback. The business district nearby (1/2 block) had several good restaurants and a good coffee shop. We ate at Ricardo's Italian Cafe - very good food and reasonable prices.

We stayed in the Balcony Room on the 2nd floor. The room was small; the bathroom was small; the living space downstairs was modest but filled with some interesting reading matter about the area. The owners were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was at 830 - later than I liked but still convenient and it was good. The place had wi-fi for free; it had plenty of movies to view for free, and some snacks and coffee were available.

The place has an awesome outdoor deck that I would have loved in the summer/fall, but we couldn't use it because of the season. Our room also had a small balcony that would be very good in a more moderate season. We were there in December.

This is not a lap of luxury type place, but it was comfortable and in a very interesting neighborhood. And the location was accessible to most sites.

We have not been to a B&B in several years and I was looking for a place to spend a few days for our wedding anniversary. Wow, did I find a special place. The mansion was beautiful and well restored. Mike and Kathy were terrific as hosts and treated us as though they had known us for years. Kathy provided us with two wonderful breakfasts and Mike filled us in on the history of the mansion. All in all, a great place to stay and the Lafayette Square is a beautiful area now. It has been improved by the neighborhood group so much that we didn't recognize many of the areas. We will definitely return to the Mansion in the future.
