This Hampton Inn is very nice. The rooms were very modern and clean. The location is fantastic with several restaurants within walking distance. I will be back.

Dear msrobins;

Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to leave comments in Trip Advisor. We are glad that you found the rooms to be modern and clean. We are known for cleaniliness, along with friendliness. We do have a great location; closest hotel to the Zoo, within walking distance to the Science Center, 2 miles North of The Hill, and a couple of miles from the Missouri Botanical Gardens. I stayed at this property for just one night on a quick stop in St. Louis and was very pleasantly surprised by the high quality accommodations for the relatively low price. My room was HUGE with a large bathroom, full of good quality toiletries. The gym on the ground floor is perfect for a quick workout, complete with cardio equipment and free weights! Friendly staff, easy parking. Highly recommended.

Deat kansasforever;

So glad that you stumbled upon our "home" while you were away from yours. Will business continue to bring you into the area? We sure hope so! Pleased that our accommodations fit your needs, as well as your wallet. Also, great feedback on our Fitness Center. It is open 24 hours, so when you return, you can always fit a workout into your busy schedule. When driving, we do have ample, close parking and it's FREE!! Come back - We Love Having You Here!

Very good accommodations, quiet, clean, large rooms and bathrooms, convenient layout for the desk area not right by the air conditioner vents. Couple drawbacks: in order to have a refrigerator or microwave you must pay more for a suite. Many hotels offer these items in their regular rooms. Also, given the convenient location to many tourist attractions, zoo, Arch, etc, the hotel is visited by many school groups which can be quite hectic and noisy. In fact on our last visit the elevators were disabled by kids fooling around although they were quickly fixed. The breakfast offered the usual fare which is adequate. The cooked oatmeal is a nice touch. But please do something about the decaf coffee, it was little more than colored-water during our 4-day stay even though I had mentioned this to the staff.

Dear leekaydee;

Thank you so much for your honest comments. This really helps us to be the best for our guests. I have taken note of your mention of the decaf coffee and we will address the situation and, hopefully, this will be better on your next visit. That is true - it is $15 more to have a Studio Suite which includes mini fridge, microwave, larger TV, separate sink from shower, and an additional wet sink - great value for the money :) Just to comment on the school groups, we don't get a whole lot, but we do from time to time. Like you said, they take field trips to visit the attractions, in the area. I had heard that we had an elevator issue but am happy to hear that the it was fixed quickly! Nice to get a comment on the fresh oatmeal. That was added in 2012, along with three toppings! Hope to have you back with us!

We stayed at this hotel in February after a death in the family. The hotel was lovely. We stayed in a suite of some sort that had a bar type area and huge bedroom with couch, which was fantastic because we were traveling with 2 little ones (one being a newborn) and the added bar counter allowed for me to wash and santize bottles easily without jeapordizing bathroom counter space.

The employees were very helpful with anything that we needed and when I had a package overnight to the hotel, they promptly called me upon its arrival. I was most appreciative when my MIL stayed and we were paying for her room, that they listened to my request and placed her room far away from ours.

The breakfast each morning was great and our son really enjoyed the pool. It was nice to be able to relax during such a stressful time in our lives. The restaurant outside the doors was fantastic! I was able to grab a few drinks when I was upset. We were also very close to the zoo and even though I don't know my way around St. Louis well, I was easily able to get back to the freeway.

Dear VA Shannon;

I wish you would have visited under more favorable circumstances. Thank you for leaving your comments - it is greatly appreciated! I never thought of the convenience of the extra wet sink for sanitizing bottles; that's a great selling point! Also, isn't it nice with young ones, to be in a Studio Suite - everything within one nice, large room. Pleased to hear that our staff was accommodating and that you received call about your package right away. I am also happy that we met your request regarding room assignments :) So glad that your son enjoyed a dip in the pool and that the Highlander was to your liking. Thrilled that you could relax while here. Please return for a visit so that you can see all of the attractions, in the area. We Love Having You Here!

Great stay! We were very close to the zoo and just a short drive to downtown. Our room faced east and we could actually see the arch. Hot breakfast wasn't bad. Housekeeping excellent. Maid left us suckers for the kids. Indoor pool wasn't bad....even had noodles and stuff for the kids to use. The Highlanders restaurant beside the hotel was surprising good, too! The only negative thing I could think of was the traffic noise....even being on the 6th floor you could hear a lot of traffic from the interstate....also, the curtains to the room didn't quite close all the way, so being on the east side meant the sun came in bright and early. Overall, great hotel! I'd come back!

Dear ggs_princess;

Thank you for taking the time to leave guest comments in Trip Advisor. This is a popular site and helps others in choosing their hotel. As you mentioned, we are very close to the Zoo, actually the closest. Next time - book a Zoo Safari package and receive arm bands at the hotel for the paid experiences at the Zoo. You can take a mile walk over to the Zoo through Turtle Park for another fun, free attraction in the area. That's great to hear about the little treat the Housekeepers left in your room while performing their cleaning duties. We are known for customer service and cleanliness. I am touching base with Maintenance in regards to the curtain comment. Thank you for that because it only makes us better. Next time, consider asking for the East side, again, but ask to be on the South end - away from the Highway. You may still be able to catch a glimpse of the Arch :)

WE spent 5 nights here. Three related couples meeting to gab and sightsee. My husband and I took a suite so there would be plenty of room to meet. Good choice. We had a fridge and microwave which turned out to be very convenient. Lots of room. Quiet. The other rooms were nice, too. One of our other couples was so impressed that they stayed ar Hampton Inns on their way home.

Yes the rooms are basic, and the free breakfast adequate. The staff are friendly but completely overwhelmed. They are also forced to work ridiculously long hours and many days in a row without a day off.
Our biggest complaint was with the lack of internet access. There was a period of 24 hours were the service was down. They offered use of their "business center" which has two computers and a non-working printer. The problem was that they in no way monitor who is using this. For long periods of time this was monopolized by kids playing games or on facebook.
We had a family emergency and could not convince the kids there to let go of their games.
Hampton Inn has some responsiblity when a service they promise is not available.

Our family emergency was made all the more stressful by this situation.
The staff at the time were completely overwhelmed and unable to help.

We go to St Louis fairly often to visit family. We don't plan on returning to this Hampton Inn.

Room Tip: If you decide to stay here, request a room away from the elevator. The noise was constant.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. We appreciate any feedback that will help make us better. I apologize for the internet being down. I did talk to the staff regarding this situation. They assured me they were in contact with our internet support trying to get it back up as soon as we possibly could. I am sorry they did not communicate this to you.
We strive to hire service minded people that want to please our customers. Some of them are cross-trained so that's why you might have seen familiar faces in several departments.
I can understand your frustrations and the staff should have offered our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. Please contact me and I would be happy to take care of that for you.
