We got a really good rate for this hotel considering the prices of the surrounding hotels and were really happy we stayed there. The hotel and grounds are in great shape and the staff was terrific as well. They have a hidden $10 parking charge, which is a pet peeve of mine, and it feels like nitpicking but the rooms are about as small as they could make them and still have the sofabed and separate bedroom that is the hallmark of residence inns. I suppose that sort of thing is to be expected in an urban hotel though. The surrounding neighborhood is mostly industrial so that's not great but there is a large locking fence that surrounds the property and parking lot so we felt safe enough.

Room Tip: A few of the rooms have balconies. Ask for one facing the north for a good view of the City.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this property in October. We arrived on a Sunday with our 2 dogs and were welcomed very nicely by the front staff including Rick the manager. Everyone was so nice and friendly to us and our pups! The shuttle service was a very nice touch and made it easy to get around to the nearest dining and attractions.

We all made friends with some of the hotel's other guests (families visiting from out of the States) and our pups were a hit with the kids and adults. The free evening meal went beyond the typical chips and crudités most hotels put out and made our stay that much more budget friendly.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked our next stay here even before we had checked out, and I've never done that before. The location was perfect for visits to Forest Park, the Arch, and the downtown restaurants.

The rooms and common areas were clean and the staff showed an attention to their guests and the property that made this feel like a 5star hotel. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We liked the view from our room on the upper floor.

I stayed at this hotel twice in the past year, both times for business. Not only did we stay at the hotel but we held our meetings here. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and modern. The breakfast is your traditional Residence Inn breakfast but you can always find something to eat or drink. Their coffee is really pretty good and its served all day long. They have oatmeal and cereals, yogurt and pastries, and different hot items daily. I recommend the price and location of this hotel for sure and will be back soon.

Room Tip: I always prefer a room on a higher floor away from the elevators.

In determining the week’s lodging eleven months ago, we were undecided between the Convention’s Hotel, the Marriott St. Louis Renaissance or the St. Louis Residence Inn Down Town.

For a number of reasons, we selected the St. Louis Residence Inn Down Town. One reason was that we might take the Metro Train to Union Station, dine at Landry’s Seafood House, and summon the St. Louis Residence Inn Down Town shuttle with the knowledge that the shuttle would transport us to the St. Louis Convention Center.

Given our Platinum Elite Status, we were guaranteed a suite with one King bed and a separate living room and kitchen area as well as a superior breakfast and wine evenings.

True, the Marriott St. Louis Renaissance offered it’s elite members comparable amenities.

The St. Louis Residence Inn Down Town provided an eighth floor suite with wonderful views, pool, and workout room. The St. Louis Residence Inn Down Town is an older property, and we are spoiled by the new, modern Residence Inns of Portland, Oregon and of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Marriott Corporate: Time for an upgrade to The St. Louis Residence Inn Down Town! New furniture, lighting, paint, and bring in a corporate designer.

The St. Louis Residence Inn Down Town might enter 2014 for a pittance. Meanwhile, we highly rate this special property.

Excellent management, front desk, amenities!!!! We shall return, GLADLY!!!!

My family and I stayed at this hotel during a short vacation to St Louis. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was amazing and the free shuttle took us to at lot of places we wanted to go. I recommend this hotel every chance I get and we will stay here next time we are in town.

Wonderful hotel, with clean rooms, great customer service, good location, wonderful breakfast. Loved the kitchen in the rooms. Only complaint would be the amount of road construction going on that we weren't really aware of. Would definitely stay here again on our next trip.

We spent a long, school break, weekend in St Louis. We chose a centrally located Residence Inn. RI normally has worked well for our family. This one was OK - some highlights and some lowlights - so all in all an average RI that is already showing wear and tear for a relatively new building. Highlights: the woman working breakfast during the week was super - kind and helpful; the guys driving the shuttle bus (which was a nice feature - but not dependable) were great to talk with. The room itself was the usual RI room, the version with 2 queen beds and the pull out sofa was great with two kids. The lowlights: the bathroom was in need of repair (liner pulling from wall, curtain rod half hanging on the wall, grouting on floor broken and not complete, etc.) - the maintenance guy did come and was great with the kids - but could not fully repair the liner. Shuttle service was good but be prepared for long waits for the return trip and to be forgotten (we had this happen 2X) - the drivers and front desk did not seem to communicate well together. Lastly the pool, we checked it out and left after finding the water cloudy and full of hair balls. Good location - but have been at better maintained and operated RIs.
