“A wonderful restoration”
Reviewed January 29, 2014

Architecture-wise worth visiting. The restoration of the old building and the trendy new style inside is a delight!

“wow for a library”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Very pretty marble decorations with a beautiful design. The grand staircase, alone, had me wondering if I was in a museum; although it probably could be one. It would take a full day to tour this place; I have yet to visit every floor. The rooms are large with attendants on each floor. The restrooms are in hideaways corners, though. This, thus far, is my ideal library.

“Recently redone”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

This is an old historic library that has been brought into the 21st century. It's worth a visit if you can fit it into your schedule, there is a room for kids, a room for tweens and teens. Its just a beautiful place to see. If you are downtown and want to cool off or warm up whatever the need may be, it's a great place to stop in and explore for an hour or two.

“an architectural gem”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Built by Cass Gilbert - architect of the US Supreme Court building and the iconic Woolworth building in New York - this is one of the most gorgeous libraries in the world. The "restoration," unfortunately, stripped the main reading room of its function. Still there are fantastic spaces to sit and read, and they restored the ceilings, walls and fixtures with loving care. This building could be in Florence or Rome. Amazing to have it here.

“A beautiful building that works well for a small conference”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

As others have mentioned, the restoration of this beautiful building is stunning. While we were there docents were stationed around to add more information about its history. Don't miss the ceilings and stained glass windows.
We were there as part of a small conference and the facilities worked well for that purpose.
