Description: A Farm-to-Table Italian Restaurant which concentrates on the flavors of our region by using quality ingredients from neighboring farms. Our mission is to bring our guests back to a time where you knew where your food came from as well as the farmers that worked so hard to raise sustainable and ethical products. The menus change daily to reflect what is in season and available locally. We pride ourselves on everything we do in house: Pasta, Butchering, Charcuterie, Condiments, Pickles, Bread and Desserts.

We were greeted by a gracious host who showed us our table. Our water glasses were promptly filled and our waited greeted us. We had before dinner drinks (both were marvelous) and the waiter brought us a treat from the chef before we ordered. We brought our own wine ($15 corkage which is reasonable in St. Louis) and it was decanted for us. We ordered the four course tasting meal, thinking it was the best way to experience this new place for us. We both had appetizers and they were excellent. The entree's were beautifully prepared and were just yummy. Dessert was excellent as well. My wife had the warm brownie and I had the apple shortcake. The atmosphere was perfect for conversation. The interior was warm and inviting. Really just a very very nice place to have a wonderful dinner.

This restaurant was a real surprise. If you are visiting the city you need a car or cab to get there, but it it more than worth the effort. Most ingredients were locally grown, fish was wild NOT farm raised. Wine selection mostly smaller vineyards with a leaning toward European. Fixed Price menus with more than enough food. 3 courses for $25 was enough for a normal person who was hungry. We had dinner on a tuesday night so it was not crowded. In addition to our meals we ordered the Charcuterie the selections were delightful and it was more than enough for three.

Service was extraordinary and the staff was very knowledgeable about the wines.

I would recommending dining here for business, with friends or a very intimate romantic evening.

We visited with 2 other couples on a recent Saturday night and were delighted with the food, service and wine list. It is a very spacious restaurant with well placed tables offering plenty of space for the dinners. It is on the Hill but not Italian. The menu is seasonal with most items locally provided. The service was outstanding. We all ordered different items from their "four course" dinner which allows you to pick you appetizer, soup or salad, main course and desert for a $45 price. The chef will add wine parings of his choice for an added $20. I chose my own wine from a very extensive and satisfying wine list. The only negative of the evening was the bar seemed a little understocked as they had no southern comfort and several bourbons ordered by name were not available. It is pricy as our meal for two with tip was $200 but certainly a place to go for a special treat. We will certainly go back again.

Truly outstanding food, not at all in the style so common on the Hill.

Wine list is interesting, diverse and well-priced.

A great experience. Can't wait to return.

My husband and I had one of the best meals of our lives last night at Five Bistro "on the Hill" in St. Louis. This was our first time visiting this restaurant but definitely not the last. I can't believe I had never even heard of the place! It's a comfortable space with the tables placed perfectly so the wait staff can maneuver and diners can enjoy relatively private conversation. We started the evening with cocktails and I daringly tried the special hot and dirty martini - what a great idea to add a little jalepeno brine to a dirty martini - I loved it! We both chose the 5 course pre fixe with wine pairings. Every bite of every dish was absolutely perfect, and whoever is pairing the wines with the dishes is an absolute expert! What a find! Feels strange to go to the Hill and not eat Italian but do it!
