We have had some great experiences with restaurants (non chain) in Saint Louis and this place topped it for us tonight. First, our waiter Josh was so friendly and genuinely happy to be there, making us feel welcome and comfortable. Friday during Lent had us enjoying amazing seafood that was certainly no sacrifice. We had an oyster poboy, mussels, two soups, tomato with grilled cheese croutons and crawfish bisque, and a decadent bread pudding for dessert. As a Louisiana girl, I am picky about anything labeled creole or cajun. This place topped some of my favorite places in Louisiana. We will be back for the dungeness crab as recoomended by another wait staff. What a fun new discovery in Saint Louis!

While in downtown STL for the Home Show, we decided to do a late lunch. At 2:30 on a Saturday, it was standing room only and we had a brief wait for a table. The band was going strong. We ate inside so we could hear the band but it was not overpowering. Service was great, the food was very good, and we were in and out in a timely manner. If you are not familiary with this restaurant and are looking for something fancy, beware. Located where they are, this restaurant fits the neighborhood perefectly! Character is one term that can be used confidently when describing the Broadway Oyster Bar. In the ratings below, I give it an excellent for romance. This is a place to go for a really fun date night!

This place is all about the atmosphere. They have a live band playing evenings in an outdoor heated tent. The interior looks a little bit like an old dive bar from the late eighties, as a matter of fact they have old posters of bands that played there during that era. The locals told me it is a blues bar. They do a tremendous gumbo and I tried alligator for the first time ever. The gumbo was excellent, the gator was less impressive although still good and it's worth it to try something different.

This is a unique restaurant with character in St. Louis. It is close to downtown, in an older neighborhood, close to Busch Stadium. The food is delicious, and the bar area has a quaint cozy atmosphere. There is also an adjacent area where bands play, its enclosed in the winter and open in the summer.

This was our first visit to one of the hidden jewels in downtown St. Louis! Granted, this is a dive, but a great dive with an eclectic Mardi Gras atmosphere. First, the food was excellent…we had the Crawfish Etoufee (excellent spice level, good amount of crawfish tails), Gumbo Ya Ya (again, excellent spice level with a fair amount of shrimp) and the Muffuletta (as good as the ones sold at the Central Grocery in New Orleans). Besides the food, our other reason for going to this joint was to hear the Soulard Blues Band followin dinner and they were amazing!! Needless to say, this was a great Monday night out in downtown St. Louis.
