Food was delicious from the olive oil bread dip to the house salad dressing. Toasted ravioli's right on target as well. Chicken parm I would highly suggest, although I would prefere penne or spaghetti vs the shells for the side. Chicken spiedini is a must! Might as well get a beer for what they charge for a soda! Although, there are free refills.
Staff mixed up and told us chicken spiedini was lunch special. The bill showed different....
Food is worth the trip. Service is so so. Plan on an hour for your food to arrive. Since the Hill is such a St. Louis mainstay,it would be nice if the service showed some appreciation to the guests...especially, the tall guy who had no personality.

Had a coupon, so decided to try Mam Campisi's. The restaurant was very crowded and hot; the chairs are like banquet hall chairs - not very comfortable. Our waiter was very slow; tables came and went while we were slowly receiving our food - he was also a bit brusque. Not much ambiance; it feels like you are sitting in the middle of someone's busy living room at a card table.

The tomato caprese appetizer was good, if small - with fresh tomatoes and basil, with tiny balls of mozzarella. The bread is good, and comes from Vitale's bakery. We all had the house salad with our meals - chopped salad with provel shredded cheese and a sweet balsamic house dressing - good, salad was fresh. The menu makes a big deal over the dressing, but it tasted like it was just balsamic, evoo and sugar.

One diner had the pasta with mussels and clams - she liked it although she would have liked more clams. Another had veal marsala, which came with a side of pasta shells in marinara sauce - he said the pasta was very overcooked and dry, and the marinara sauce had no flavor. (We wondered if all of the pasta dishes on the menu with red sauce had that same marinara sauce...) He also found the veal to be very tough and chewy. The third person had chicken marsala, and broccoli as a side. The broccoli had a little garlic and seemed fresh, not frozen. Both the chicken and veal had the same sauce - goopy and thick with a pronounced flour and tomato paste flavor and very little marsala wine flavor - not very flavorful. The chicken was overdone and tough.

When we asked about dessert we were told nothing is made in house, everything is frozen, and we'd be better off going around the corner to an ice cream shop.

We wondered why the restaurant was so crowded, and came to the conclusion that the menu prices are a bit lower than many others on the Hill, but here you get what you pay for, for better or for worse.

Italian with no pretense to be anything else. Dean Martin croons as you dine in a comfortable, casual room with amiable servers and delicious food from the fresh bread, oil and parmesan to the tiramizzu. Highly recommend.

My food was delicious!! I ordered the manicotti and it was the best I have ever had. I did notice that the temperature in the dining area was very warm, and I do not think the air was working at the time. Our service was ok....could have been a little better. Overall, the food was great and I would go back again!

Sammy the waiter was awesome! He gave us great entree recommendations. The chicken spedini is awesome and could have fed a family of four. They have a great house salad but it was very very warm in the restaurant last night. The salad was room temperature. Try the stuffed mushrooms, really good. Tiramasu was very nice as well. We won't be going back until the temp stays under 90 degrees--it was just too warm in the dining areal.
