“Queen's Cuisine”
Reviewed May 22, 2014

After spending many days in England and Scotland enjoying real tea time this was a disappointment. The tea leaves were left in the pot making the brew too strong and bitter to enjoy a second cup, the scones were dry, and the savories less than expected. Anyone can put a cucumber slice on white bread, egg salad is inexpensive and easy to make, and the tiny tomatoe and slice of turkey bite size piece took little effort as well. I do more than this for guests that come to my house for tea time. The sweets did not seem freshly or homemade and were not impressive. For the price of this experience it was not one I would recommend repeating. Other tea rooms in the US do a far better job with more delicious food. There was not enough help (serving) and we had to ask for water. It seemed that it was very cost effective for the proprieter but certainly not a good value for the consumer.
I know that the food the owner prepares can be good as it is served at the London Tea Room but she did not put forth the same effort in this Mother's Day tea we observed. Mini-quiches, veggie rolls, unique and tasty savories would have done far more for a pleasurable experience. Perhaps checking out the St. James Tearoom in Albuquerque, NM would give her a better idea of a lovely tea experience.

Our afternoon teas are served in keeping with British tradition, from the loose leaf tea leaves left in the pot to the sandwiches, scones and desserts. I've added a written description of our afternoon teas to our web site to accompany the existing menu and photographs so that future customers can see what we serve. I understand that it can be disappointing when an event, especially on Mother’s Day, does not meet with your expectations.

Tea strength is a personal preference so we are happy to provide additional hot water for our customers to adjust to their taste. Furthermore, I have ordered some new teapots that have a removable infuser, a more modern form of tea service for future customers.

During the hot summer months we serve iced water to everyone. When the weather is cooler we find most of our guest prefer to drink hot tea but iced water is available upon request. However, there is no excuse for poor service and for that I apologise.

Thank you for mentioning our baked goods available at the London Tearoom. It has been our pleasure to supply them with our sweet and savory pastries for many years. All of the desserts and scones served at the afternoon tea were made ‘in house’ fresh for the occasion. I am sorry you did not enjoy them as much as you have before.

“Afternoon Tea at the Fleur de Lys Mansion, St Louis”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

A belated Christmas gift for a dear friend, we were quite "chuffed" (as the British say) by the marvelous ambience, service, presentation, tea & refreshments. Jane Muscroft creates a fabulous experience, and we didn't feel rushed to complete our delightful adventure. Six weeks later, still glowing at the memories. We eagerly anticipate a return visit!

Reviewed April 14, 2014

In the beautiful mansion setting my 3 friends and I felt pampered and deliciously filled with everything from a wide choice of teas, kept hot by our servers, to scrumptious tea sandwiches, scones, and decadent desserts. We will tell others how they can experience this lovely treat and will undoubtedly return ourselves.

“A beautiful tower of delicious goodies”
Reviewed April 9, 2014

We hosted an afternoon tea shower with Queen's Cuisine and it was wonderful! Not only did the tables and food look delicious, it tasted delicious, too! It's a really fun thing to do because everyone gets a little nibble of all sorts of different foods - from finger sandwiches to scones with real clotted cream and jam to tiny desserts. They have an extensive menu and you get to choose which items you want at your tea. To top it off, you just have to show up and have fun and eat! It got rave reviews from everyone who came! Call Jane to book your party, too!
