Description: Back and better than ever. This casual restaurant, bar, and boat rental facility, located in the heart of Forest Park on Post-Dispatch Lake, is like no other place in St. Louis. The Boathouse has undergone major renovations thanks to a gift from the Jack Taylor family. In the warm weather enjoy leisurely boat rides, lakeside patio dining, cold drinks, live music, and beautiful sunsets. In the cold weather enjoy indoor dining for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch…or just come and enjoy a glass of wine or a hot chocolate while relaxing around the large stone wood-burning fireplace. **Due to increased traffic in the Park during our busy season, we’ll be able to accommodate reservations for large parties only, 10-16 people, for indoor dining at specific times. Otherwise, our seating is available on a first come, first serve basis.

We had lunch at the Boathouse this past Saturday and sat outside. I was with my parents and 2 year old niece. The host asked if we needed a kids menu which seemed obvious and then didn't offer a high chair when we were seated. The food was good. I had the Boathouse salad which was yummy and very light. The waiter was ok. He did bring fresh iced tea when the icecubes melted without us asking. He brought anything we asked for but just wasn't the friendly type.
What I really enjoyed was the atmosphere. Friendly dogs are welcome to sit with you next to your table. We had fun watching and feeding the ducks and turtles. The paddleboats looked like fun too although we didn't rent one on this visit. Overall it was a nice lunch.

Our local hosts took us here on our way to their house from the train station. It's a great "welcome to St. Louis" spot, with its historic setting (on the waterways left over from the 1904 World's Fair) and its great views over water, trees and the Spanish Pavilion on its landscaped hill.

Nice selection of craft beers in addition to the expected local Anheuser Busch products, and a fine margarita (good balance of sweet and tart, not too much ice). Great service from a cheerful waiter who let us taste beers before ordering, and kept up a humorous banter with the table.

This was our first visit to the Boathouse. The weather was unseasonably cool, so we sat outside. The ambience was really wonderful - the view overlooking the lake, the ducks coming up to feed, the lighting, etc. We were a little disappointed at the menu, which featured lunch-type food at dinner. We both had sandwiches, which were good, and the drinks were served in plastic Solo cups, which was a little tacky. Regardless, we enjoyed the grounds and the service was really great. There are even paddle boats for rent, but we opted out. If you want a casual and relaxed date with friends, alone, or even a first date, I would recommend.

We waited a LONG time for our drinks...that's my only complaint. I had the Boathouse salad...very yummy. My husband had a club sandwich and said it was good. The setting is so pretty and relaxing!!!

The spinach, artichoke, and crab dip was OUTSTANDING, however the chips we were given were about 2 weeks beyond stale. The burger was good, however the salmon BLT had zero flavor. The service we had was nonexistent, and sllllooooooooow. I think I'll pass this place by next time.
