“Could have been better”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

We went out on a limb and booked the "secret hotel deal" and this was what we got. The hotel lobby is nice and beds were pretty comfortable. The price was not as great as we expected especially amenities for this hotel. There was no way to change hotels once we booked the secret hotel option. There was no bath tub only a shower. The room was small and had only double beds. There was pink mildew all along the base of the shower tile which I used bleach to clean the first night. This was probably because there was no vent fan in the bathroom. The first cleaning crew was not the best as we had several small things that were left unattended for several days, but when the second group came it was a little better. Sheets were old with balls and the decor of the room was dated, not at all like the pictures. Having Applebee's downstairs was convenient as well as the frig and micro in room. But there was no pool, somehow we missed that in the list. We were disappointed as we were expecting a good deal on a nice hotel. The popcorn in the lobby was good but the cookies were always gone before the kids could get to them.

I stayed here for five nights while beginning my school program at Goldfarb School of Nursing. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean, modestly decorated, relatively quiet for being in a busy neighborhood. Conveniently located to many shops and restaurants as well the academic institutions and medical center. Near the subway stop, too. Took the train back to the airport which was much cheaper than a cab. Hot breakfast every day. Free popcorn and fresh-baked cookies in the lobby. Would help to have wifi in the rooms as others have stated. Also a pool or access to one would be great. Nice to have the restaurant and bar on-site, although I didn't get to try.

This place is a rare find for those stressed out by medical problems that require family members to stay overnight in St. Louis modern hospital district. They provide a special rate of $105 if a family member is in one of the hospitals, which gives you a room with two queen beds and includes breakfast, internet, gym, and parking. In addition, the front desk is friendly and accommodating. And you are right in the middle of the Central West End restaurant district and close to a metro stop!

We stayed 3 nights.Have no complaints, except what has been stated before. They need WIFI in the rooms. They have in room internet, only one of the 4 of us had a lap top. They do have WiFi in the lobby. They have a really good breakfast that is included with the room. There is free popcorn and fresh baked cookies at different times. The room was clean and comfortable. The ac had some problems.Either to cold, turn it down and too hot.But we dealt with it.It might have just been our room. There isnt a pool also.Everyone that works there was very friendly.

The rooms are ok, small but have everything you need. Bathrooms are also pretty small and an awkward layout. The hotel is close to lots of wonderful restaurants & the walking in the neighborhood is wonderful -- beautiful old mansions and redone storefronts.

It is a great place to stay if you need to be close to Barnes Jewish -- there is a skyway between the hotel and the Advanced Medicine Center, which eventually leads to the hospital.

The breakfast is hot and adequate, but almost the same everyday. Kind of like school lunch food. There are yummy chocolate chip cookies in the evening and popcorn.

Room Tip: Choose a room above the 3rd floor for a view.

The room was dirty when we got here. There was hair from previous guests in the shower, a pillow with blood stains in the closet and it was obvious it had not been vacuumed.
The room was tiny with a loud and old AC unit.
Breakfast was bad.
Good location.
I wouldn't stay here again. I'm sure there are better places for less money.

I used to live in the neighborhood, and my family stayed here when they came to visit me in St Louis. They loved The Parkway. It was clean, quiet/relaxing, conveniently located, and had a wonderful staff. Their last stay was 3 years ago.

I recently returned to St Louis for a visit, and chose to stay at The Parkway. It was disappointing to see how this hotel has declined in the past few years. The location is still perfect for exploring the city, and the price is right, but that's about it. Everything just looks...tired. The furniture in the lobby is stained and sagging. The breakfast buffet is barely acceptable and poorly stocked. The staff seemed stressed out and exhausted. The lobby was loud all the time, like walking through a middle school cafeteria on the last day of school. This is certainly not the quiet oasis that families visiting a loved one need (The Parkway is connected to the hospital via a 3rd floor walkway). Maybe we chose a bad weekend - it did seem like they were hosting a few large groups for weddings, but The Parkway is just not set up to host large groups without inconveniencing their other guests. It's a very small hotel. I would still suggest The Parkway for people wanting to explore the city and use the hotel solely as a place to sleep. Again: Perfect location. Right price. Good luck!

Room Tip: Request a higher floor if you are a light sleeper.
