Description: Winslow's Home is a decidedly relaxed atmosphere that serves some seriously great things. We are at once a cafe, espresso bar, bakery and private events space set in the middle of a contemporary general store. While breakfast and lunch orders are taken at the counter and then delivered to your table, dinner offers our guests the opportunity to unwind a bit through the transition to table service after 5pm. The relaxed and warm setting offer interior and seasonal patio options and our loyal customers are as diverse as our menu. We are located in the vibrant historic neighborhood of University City Missouri, an inner suburb of St Louis. Centrally located, we are roughly 3 blocks from Washington University, 4 blocks from downtown Clayton, 7 miles from the arch and the Mississippi River and 12 miles from the airport. Winslow's Home owns and operates a working farm in Augusta Mo. 35 miles from Winslows Home. Here we grow seasonal produce herbs, fruit and flowers using organic and biodynamic methods. This allows our team of chefs to craft some of the best fresh scratch cooking in the region. Deliveries from farm to fork happen 2-3 times a week, 10-11 months a year. The farm also hosts private events. Awards in the recent past by regional and national press include continued inclusion in "best of" lists, best artisan food shop, best breakfast, best carry out, best chocolate chip cookie, best farm to table restaurant, best grass fed beef burger, best cafe, best place to bring out of towners and best sandwich. Winslows Cellar is our events space. entering through Winslows Home, the Cellar is a secret jewel that offers our private dining guests an elevated Winslows experience. The space is an intimate, mahogany paneled room featuring private restrooms, original artwork, and oriental rugs. Seating 36, the Cellar features a lounge area, full bar, presentation and sound systems. This unique space is an ideal setting for private celebrations and business meetings alike. Menus are all individually customized by our team of professionals.

A great well executed interior mercantile store with a good deli. Brisket was excellent and the Beefteck burger delicious. Wide variety of unusual sodas and drinks, wine room too, you will enjoy!

visited Winslow's Home for the first time on an unseasonably warm Jan day which permitted outdoor seating. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff was very friendly. The ordering counter in the back of the establishment (adjacent to the kitchen) had the menu posted on white boards (paper copies were also availabe.) The counter also contained/displayed the available dessert options. Breakfast all day was an excellent choice as was the chicken sandwich and quiche. Servings were ample and the side salad with the sandwich was a good choice. Desserts were large and tasty. The items available for sale in the store provided a pleasant atmosphere and an opportunity to stretch your legs between the meal and dessert.

I am constantly on the lookout for the perfect place for breakfast. Winslow’s Home is my second home for breakfast. You can ride your bike here (racks on the walls above where the cars park) and linger outside in warm weather. Inside is inviting and novel given the General Store flavor. The menu is limited but they do what they offer very well. From the warm, large coffee up to the breakfast served piping hot, I couldn’t replicate this experience at home. This is THE place I bring guests when I am taking clients or friends out for breakfast. Everyone enjoys browsing through the store and seeing the wonderful things to eat as well as items you know you will use and enjoy at home.

Whenever we're in St Louis we like to try and eat lunch here. It's a lovely place in the Washington University area, and is patronized by both students and locals.
This fairly small cafe is situated in a former hardware store, apparently, and it still retains a rather old-time "feel' to it---wooden floors, shelves with an eclectic assortment of goods to buy along the walls, and a long counter area, now the bar and waiting area, but we can easily imagine it as a soda fountain bar in days gone by.
In warm weather there are tables outside, under an awning. Inside are about 12 tables, of varying shapes and sizes, all appear to be antiques. Besides eating, people sit and read and browse the fun items for sale. You go in and order from the counter at the back, then wait with your number to be given a seat. It always seems to be crowded, so you may wait a little while, but everyone does end up with a table. The servers then bring the food out to you. The food is great, as it's all organic, locally sourced (much from the family's own farm) and freshly cooked on the spot.
They serve breakfast items all day, plus various soups, sandwiches and salads. For lunch, our family especially likes the tomato and basil soup, the torta rustica, the grilled cheese sandwich and the fish sandwich (but be careful, as it has sriracha sauce, which is very hot!). The salads are also lovely, especially in the warmer weather. They have a number of special supper plates too, that change weekly and vary with the season, but alway include a vegetarian, a meat and a fish dish.
There's an espresso bar, many kinds of cold drinks and beer and wine too.

Winslow's is a fun place to go for coffee, fresh baked goods and great breakfast, lunch or dinners.
It's like an old fashion dry goods store with all kinds of unique odds and ends as well as a great place to eat.
