This place was definitely a unique place to stay. The room was spacious--we had a King bed. There was a nice little closet and comfy chairs to sit in. The bed was quite comfortable. I was not fond of the fact that there was only a shower and no bath; however, the water got good and hot and there was plenty of water pressure.
After our first night there, we ordered room service for breakfast. The pancakes were the best we've ever had! The young lady that brought it to us accidentally spilled one of the drinks on the bed, and offered to tell housekeeping to make sure they changed the sheets.
When we came back from sightseeing that day, no one had been in our room--the used towels were still on the bathroom floor. We called the front desk, and they had housekeeping there within five minutes to clean the room. Another fifteen minutes and they were done. The head of housekeeping even showed up to help, and apologized profusely.
I'm not sure we would stay there again, but it was definitely a different experience!

Look, if u are a smoker and dont pay a lot of attention to the shower place, this hotel is awesome. Good location, good price, good bar and good service. I do enjoyed the five days spent there, espically at the midnight i had the right to smoke inside on the comfortable couch located in lobby when i cant fall asleep:)

Look, This place is really cool. I mean, they sell cigars at the front desk and everything is charged to the room. No cash exchanged and no tipping. The lobby and ball room area's are interesting and very nice to look at. The actual "hotel" part is not so great. The rooms are just very cold and old feeling and the bathrooms are just plain industrial. Not much of a step up from a public restroom. I'm gonna give it three stars because the bar and staff were so much fun, but the actual rooms and Hotel part are like a two star.

Thank you so much for taking time to let us know about your visit to the MAC! You are absolutely right in your words about our team; we have some of the friendliest and most helpful team members here that love to go above and beyond to make our guests feel welcome. We also recognize our areas for opportunity when it comes to our hotel guest rooms and hotel room bathrooms. Obviously a lot has changed since 1903 when this property was built, and although the hotel rooms have gone through a series of updates over the years, it definitely has come time to make some changes and advances. As you probably noticed during your stay, our guest floor hallways are almost at completion after several months of rehabs to the wall vinyl, carpeting, artwork, wall sconces, and lighting. The hallways will be so much more inviting when they are finished next week. One of the next stages of the rehab process will be a variety of updates to our guest rooms, including the addition of a few new suites. While we want to maintain that old-fashioned aesthetic that so many of our guests and members come for and love, we are very involved and concerned with staying up to date with our actual facilities and overall function. Thank you so much for your business and kind words; we sincerely hope you will come back and visit us during your next visit to St. Louis, and come see some of the exciting advances that we are eager to bring forth!

Thank you so much for your feedback regarding your stay! We love hearing about the candid details of our guest's experiences, and rely on them to make changes and improve accordingly. While I hope that you did not encounter any ghosts during your stay, this building does indeed have a lot of history. We opened in 1903, and there have been quite a few transformations and updates that have taken place over the years. Currently, we are renovating our guest floor hallways, and we will soon embark on some guest room updates that will hopefully make some of our smaller guest rooms a bit more comfortable. We will also be adding some additional guest rooms and suites, and updating some of our in-room amenities. I would have to agree that we probably have the most expansive fitness center in St. Louis; most hotel fitness centers do not have basketball/racquetball/squash courts, steam rooms, or a golf simulator, and these sorts of unique amenities are what truly set us apart from other lodging and athletic facilities. Again, thank you greatly for reaching out to us to tell us about your experience; we would love to have you back in the near future so you can see the finished product!

The clubhouse is under extensive renovation in the guest room areas, which is very good. My room had new bathroom fixtures and tile, was spacious and neat. The balance of the clubhouse is looking pretty good, including the honorable art collection. The three Cortes Paris paintings are standouts, along with the clever Cortes-style rendering of the clubhouse street scene. Definitely eat in the dining room -- top notch for a city club. If you are a clubber, this is worth a stay. Still a worthy destination if you are not, but don't expect a bland marriott-style experience.

Thank you so much for taking time to let us know about your visit! We heavily rely on candid guest feedback to improve the guest experience, and it was so great to hear about the details of your stay that made it positively memorable for you. Indeed, the art collection we have in our Art Lounge in unique to say the least. I am an art lover myself, and it is amazing to see such a vast spread of artists and mediums, right here in our own lobby! The renovations that are taking place in the guest hallways are coming along at a quick pace, and the process should be completed in the next few weeks. Being such an old property with so many of the original elements in place, it is crucial that we continue to strive to be up-to-date, yet maintain that old-fashioned feel that so many of our guests and members come here for. We are so happy to know that we have gained your loyalty and that you had the opportunity to try the cuisine in our Jack Buck Grill. Our culinary team is top notch to say the least, and they will be so excited to hear about your positive dining experience. I will be sure to pass your words along to the entire MAC team; we look forward to having you back in the near future, and hopefully becoming your "go to" lodging, social, and dining atmosphere when you come to St. Louis. Thanks again for your very kind words, it would be our pleasure to have you as our guest once again. Best Regards,

Booked thru Price Line. Room was very very small. It appeared to bee a converted storage area. Toilet was an industrial style, and bath area floor about 8 inches higher than sleep area. Door had louvered metal vent in lower area. You could see into hall. When we asked about Air Conditioning we were told to open a window.
It has a beautiful lobby, but they should ashamed of themselves for this room.

Thank you so much for taking time to offer candid, yet very honest and concerning observations regarding your experience here at Missouri Athletic Club. As a property that was built in 1904, we are consistently looking for ways to keep our product up to date and relevant with the needs of the current traveler such as yourself, while maintaining that old-fashion feel that so many of our members and guests have held sacred for so many years. Certainly, it is apparent that we have fallen very short of your expectations, not only in terms of essentials such as air conditioning and bathroom function, but also in how your concerns were addressed. We take great pride in how we treat our guests. The way that you have described our shortcomings in that regard, is unacceptable and indeed shameful. While I surely do agree and empathize with your frustrations about the size and layout of some of our guest room configurations, I sincerely apologize for the lack of effort shown by our team to correct the issue at hand and follow through to ensure your comfort and satisfaction! Your words are of great concern to our leadership team! I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you further and personally in regards to your experience, as well as update you on some of the exciting renovations and advances which we are so excited to offer in the near future. Again, thank you greatly for your feedback; we heavily rely on this type of input to improve, and to hopefully create positively memorable experiences for the next 110 years to come. Sincerely,
Alex Cass

We (3 of us) stayed at this facility on 12-14 to 12-15-13. This was our 2nd time staying at this place. We were in town to watch the Rams beat up on the Saints !!! ;-). Location to the Edward Jones Dome was great ,as it was right across the street. This place is an older Hotel and the rooms are not anything to brag about. We went for location and cost. compared to other available hotels in this area. We did enjoy the swimming pool and Hot tub on Sat. afternoon. Not a smoker, but for you who are, you can actually smoke inside at designated spots. They do have a nice dining and lounge area also. If you are looking for an elegant sleeping room this is not for you ! If you are bargain shopping for a place close to the convention center/Edward Jones Dome and don't mind a "dated room", this may meet your needs.

Room Tip: Ask for a FREE upgrade to a two room suite, still dated but roomier !
