“Great Continental Breakfast.”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

The room was good. I saw other comments about the bed-posts being large, and still managed to trip over them. Each room is individually themed with a different English author. We ate ate "The Restaurant" for dinner which was very good as expected from other reviews. What I really enjoyed were the pastries made fresh daily and excellent assortment of juices, fruit, tea and coffee. Be sure to get the meat/cheese filled croissants.

stellar service and a splendid stay in what i would consider to be in the top stays in hotels this year for me (i travel about 40%). i stayed in the 'treasure island' suite which was an absolute charm. i ordered room service from the fox & hound which also happened to be spectacular and probably one of the best filets i've had all year (and i eat in steakhouses constantly). thank you for an amazing experience. i'll be back!

Dear buvez_rose,
Thank you so much for writing such wonderful things about your stay at The Cheshire! The Treasure Island Novelty Suite is really spectacular room, and I am so glad you loved it as much as we do! The Fox and Hounds is also great, especially for Room Service!

We hope to see you again the next time business brings you through St. Louis!

Free Internet, great beds, cool pool. I am not super picky, although I travel a lot for business. Friendly, staff, (kimmie and Kristen were very helpful). The real wood burning fireplace puts a small smoke odor into the lobby, which would be my only negative. Otherwise, well done!

My husband booked a weekend here for our 5 year wedding anniversary and "baby moon" (1st lil one), emailing them at that time to let them know about our special occasion. Upon arrival, we loved the old-style decor and the concierge was polite. Then we got to our room.
Hubby specifically requested the "Romance Package" in the Royal King room on the top floor because it was advertised as more quiet with extra amenities. The only "extra" present was two bottles of cheap water next to the coffee maker. No robes, no chocolate...nothing as advertised. The floor entrance was visibly dirty, as was the carpet and dust present on obvious surfaces.
The bathroom shower drain seemed clogged with very low water pressure and the towels were thin and scratchy.
That night, we discovered that the walls were also very thin and the a/c unit was incredicably loud and rattley.
My husband had to ask twice for the Romance goodies to be delivered, thinking maybe the "plush robes" would also be included- not only did they not but neither did half of the advertised gift basket arrive. By the time it was brought up on our second night, we were ready to go to sleep and decided we didn't want the headache of complaining and looking like pests. The couple times we went to the front desk with a question about The Restaurant or to inquire about borrowing an umbrella (saw other guests using them) to make a dash next door, we were met with either rudeness or general complacent unhelpfullness.
We slept horribly due to the excessive noise and dust-laden environment- and although we were told we had a smoke-free room, our hair and clothes reeked of smoke (adding to the allergens).
I have NEVER written a poor review for any business but my husband and I were very let down on our experience and regret not reading prior reviews of other travelers. The excessive price spent this weekend could have been happily spent on a lesser star location and ended with way better results.

We stayed at this fabulous location as part of a wedding (there were several on property during the weekend) and we enjoyed everything about it. Easy to park under the building, friendly greetings upon arrival, well equipped rooms, awesome little intimate bar Fox & Hound where we enjoyed meeting friends for drinks and The Market also served gourmet lunches and delish gelato!

Highly recommend this for value for money, location to the park, easy to the airport and quality of the touches. Do yourself a favor when you are in St Louis, stay at this fun property - you will be so glad you did!

Room Tip: Try to aviod being near the pool as the wedding party enjoyed a late night there :)

We have not stayed at the Cheshire for about a year, and other reviews had me a tad worried that over-concentration on the new market/restaurants were resulting in less care in the rooms. I didn't really experience that. We had two small room problems, though - got there and toilet didn't flush, but someone came up within 10 minutes and fixed it in five minutes. And, houskeeping "kind of" made the bed, if you consider moving the covers up and arranging pillows "made", and they emptied the living room trash. But no bathroom trash removed, and no towels replaced and no toiletries replaced. I called and they brought us towels and shampoo and conditioner (but didn't empty bathroom trash). However, the room was clean and VERY comfortable. Our purpose for this trip was just to rest and relax, so we were at the hotel 95% of the three days we were there. We enjoyed the living room area, where we played a board game we'd brought (and drank cocktails from Fox & Hounds).
But the very, very best part of the Cheshire is the pool scene. Service for drinks and food, cabanas, couches and tables. Gorgeous, and even though it was 100 degreees out, the configuration of the hotel being wrapped around the pool protects the area from wind AND makes it so there is shade somewhere al lthe time. It's just heavenly. We enjoyed the live music at the pool on Saturday night. We really enjoyed that before 11 am there is no music blaring, but we lived with the constant music the rest of the time. We could still read, so it wasn't horrible. Will we return? YES.

This hotel is very unique and I respected that, but they do not have the infrastructure to host large parties. There were miscommunications every step of the way from misinformation about rates, rooms, what type of rooms were available (and cost of those rooms), times things were available (such as the restaurants and bars), etc. Rooms were not cleaned even though requested several times. Nobody at the hotel EVER seemed to be on the same page, from planners, to front desk, to houskeeping. It's also on the outskirts of the city, so get a rental car. I may stay here again if it was just me and my family, but I would not plan a special weekend around this hotel or trust them with an important event. It's too bad, because the hotel itself is very special with cool themes and decor that makes you ask "where did they find all this stuff?" The complimentary fruit juices, coffee, cereal, and dairy products were a nice touch, but not enough to make up for mishaps. The restaurants on and near the property were nice, as was the pool, if you're a 20- or 30-something, which I am. On a positive note, parking for your rental is free and you're not far from attractions, but cabs aren't a legitimate option. Overall, neat hotel but not good for large groups.
