We stopped late sunday morning, just in time to hear the last hymn with their magnificent organ. Seems to have a thriving congregation. Classic stunning mosaic EVERYWHERE, including a little museum in the basement. The gift shoppe had items for all Christian denominations.

Aww inspiring, beautiful, peaceful...phenomenal. Take your time, bring your camera, stay and pray, participate in a service, check out the museum downstairs because it is well worth your time.

This church is overwhelming in beauty. The mosaics are stunning. You can appreciate the beauty no matter what religion you are. There are. Volunteers who do an excellent job of helping you understand the exquisite mosaics and history. Try to get here.

Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis should be a World Heritage Site. It is as incredible as Notre Dame or any other church I have visited. Outside, the building looks immense and merely imposing, but inside--oh inside--what beauty as over 4.5 million tiles of mosaic dance and sparkle the faith of those who constructed it. There are scenes, designs, coats of arms and more that surround the visitor. You can google the images but they are nothing compared to seeing it all at once and in person. One need not be religious at all to find the basilica beautiful and moving. We almost missed it--it was one of those "if we have time" things on our list. I'm so glad we didn't.

I am not a religious person but this cathedral is beautiful and a must see. The outside is nice but the inside is gorgeous.
