“Absolutely stunning!!!”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

This cathedral definitely holds it own and easily ranks if not outranks many cathedrals I have seen in Europe. It is just simply amazing to walk around and take in the intricate details of the mosaics, the colors, the lighting. To see the stories and imagery on the mosaics unfold as you walk throughout the church is simply amazing. There is a guided tour available, but we opted to walk around on our own. Definitely a must see free attraction to visit while in St. Louis!

“Gorgeous”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

The glass mosaics were absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, we had less that 15 minutes before a service started, so I didn't get to enjoy it as much as I would have like. Next time!

“The mosaics are truly world-class”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

Having visited cathedrals all over the world, I can easily state that seeing the mosaic art is worth your time. If you are as fortunate as we were, someone will be playing the pipe organ - adding to the acoustical reverance of this beautiful basilica.

“Europe should be envious”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

I've been to some pretty fantastic cathedrals in Europe, but I don't know if any was more impressive than the Cathedral Basilica. It reportedly took 80 years to finish the mosaics and they are truly incredible, even more so if you can get there when the lights are turned up. The altar is also incredible. They give tours that take about a half-hour and the cost is just a couple of dollars donation. Give more if you can, this place is an American treasure and second only to the Arch when it comes to impressive St. Louis attractions.

“Cathedral Basilica is amazing!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

You must see this Cathedral! Gold, mosaic tiles no more than a half inch square cover the ceiling and part of the walls. It took 100 years to complete! Each laid individually! The Cathedral is holy and majestic. They give tours but my wife and I walked through ourselves. Stayed about 45 minutes. I would think the tour would be most interesting. Great for familys with older children through senior adults.
