“Very good Sushi”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

This place was top notch. It had the best sushi that I could find in St. Louis. It's location is a little of the beaten path and being that close to the river at night can feel a little uneasy with the characters that wander around in the evening. But the food and the atmosphere was delightful. Prices were about average to a high end Sushi bar and worth every penny.

“Fantastic Staff, good atmosphere, Sub-par food”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

The atmosphere was good, contemporary with private tables (at least ours was).
Our waitress (I think it was Jessica, but can't remember, she had dyed red hair) was excellent. She was there every time when we needed her, and was not there when we didn't - no awkward "how's it taste?" when your mouth was full. She made excellent suggestions, etc... perfect service.
The variety was good: sushi for those that like raw fish, cooked "sushi" rolls, and other cooked entrees.
But the food was only sub-par. My non-sushi eating boyfriend's cooked entree was just okay, we ordered pot stickers for an app & they weren't really too good. And I got some sashimi & a maki roll for my entree - items I have gotten at many other sushi places across the country. The quality was similar to grocery store sushi.

“Keeping their amateur status”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

I have been to ton of Sushi restaurants, this place is a lower end (sushi quality) restaurant trying to be creative. Atmosphere is a bit hip and off a cool little street, 2nd St. They will never be able to compete with a really high quality sushi restaurant, but if you like rolls with a ton of mayo and that kind of stuff on them this place will do for you. Fish didn't seem overly fresh. Service was pretty good so that was nice, but the place was over half empty. I personally don't like when a place takes some of the simple rolls and ruins them, a tuna roll or spicy tuna roll don't need tempura in them. If made correctly they are good on their own. Not everything has to be unhealthy...
