My husband and I were driving from San Francisco to Boston, and we chose Rt. 66 as our avenue. We tried to stay in as many local spots as possible, but having our dog complicated that at times. I had seen this property on BringFido.com, and I called Rick the morning of the day we would arrive. He told us to come right along.
As soon as we walked into this place, we were in love. Rick has these amazing Civil War era ornaments, such as an old, working stove and a beautiful furnace. His decor was very tasteful and cozy. The house is filled with the coolest paintings and pottery pieces. Rick explained to us where we could bring our dog, who desperately needed a walk, so we immediately started exploring the neighborhood. As a side-note, I am from Boston, and I have never seen so many brownstone homes in my life. This area is a Brownstone lover's dream.
We ended up having a great dinner at a Brewery in St. Louis - Square One. We returned home for a dip in the hot tub and an excellent night sleep in the cozy king bed. Rick cooked us a great meal the next morning. We were so delighted that he had time to talk to us and tell us a little more about St. Louis. He has some great stories, so if you do stay here, do try to engage him! We left with such a great impression of St. Louis, and we will certainly stay here when we come back.
