Brewers House Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #12 of 26 Saint Louis B&B and Inns
Reviewed April 18, 2013

My husband and I were driving from San Francisco to Boston, and we chose Rt. 66 as our avenue. We tried to stay in as many local spots as possible, but having our dog complicated that at times. I had seen this property on BringFido.com, and I called Rick the morning of the day we would arrive. He told us to come right along.

As soon as we walked into this place, we were in love. Rick has these amazing Civil War era ornaments, such as an old, working stove and a beautiful furnace. His decor was very tasteful and cozy. The house is filled with the coolest paintings and pottery pieces. Rick explained to us where we could bring our dog, who desperately needed a walk, so we immediately started exploring the neighborhood. As a side-note, I am from Boston, and I have never seen so many brownstone homes in my life. This area is a Brownstone lover's dream.

We ended up having a great dinner at a Brewery in St. Louis - Square One. We returned home for a dip in the hot tub and an excellent night sleep in the cozy king bed. Rick cooked us a great meal the next morning. We were so delighted that he had time to talk to us and tell us a little more about St. Louis. He has some great stories, so if you do stay here, do try to engage him! We left with such a great impression of St. Louis, and we will certainly stay here when we come back.

My husband and I searched for a long time to find a B&B to stay in for a few nights after our wedding before we jetted off out of the country.

He instantly fell in love with Brewer's House. I had my reservations, but we ended up booking anyway. And I am oh so happy we did.

Rick was prompt in emailing us back regarding my many questions.

The place isn't too difficult to find, and has a charming exterior. It's centrally located, and is convenient for travelling anywhere downtown.

From the moment we stepped in, I adored the decor inside. I must tell you, the pictures online don't do it justice. It's eclectic, colorful, and surprisingly works. It is the coolest mash-up of modern and vintage that I've ever seen. The home had a very warm feel about it, and despite the trinkets everywhere, didn't feel at all cluttered. The hot tub was one of the B&B's appeals for us, and it didn't fail to disappoint.

We stayed in The Colorful Master Suite downstairs. I'm glad we ended up with this room because the bathroom is attached directly to the bedroom, and the decor was more our style than the room upstairs. It was cozy, but not crowded. The bed was big and comfy, and the double shower and heated light in the bathroom were wonderful touches.

Despite it being a small B&B with only 2 rooms, we still had our privacy.

To say Rick was a gracious host would be an understatement. He's a super friendly, accommodating gentleman with some great stories to tell. We greatly enjoyed chatting with him every morning as he cooked our breakfast of GOOD coffee (coming from 2 coffee snobs), crispy, thick bacon slices from Soulard Market, fresh fruit, and a satisfying cheese omelette. I loved that there were new pastries on the table every morning as well. Even though we didn't need much direction since we're both from the St Louis area, it was obvious that he's knowledgeable of both the city's history and the hidden gems around town. We both felt completely comfortable with him instantly.

I cannot highly recommend the Brewer's House enough. There was literally not one bad, not even one mediocre thing about our experience, which as you probably know, is extremely rare for a lodging place of any sort. We are telling all our friends and family about it, and personally, neither of us can wait for an excuse to return.

The Brewers house has been our best experience in a B&B ever. The place was great, it was beautiful, clean, warm, and its owner, Rick was a great host.

During the second week of January 2013, my husband and I spent two nights in this lovely B&B of St. Louis. The reservation was very fast. Rick answered our emails, and gave as all the information we required.
The location of the B&B was pretty good. Close to access, few blocks for historical neighborhoods, places, restaurants, etc. The breakfast was awesome. Fresh and organics eggs, fruits, great coffee and pastries, and off course, Rick was the amazing chef.

The bedroom was awesome too. We did not expect such a great place. The decoration, the plants, and the full size king bed. It has very nice pillows, and bathroom. Everything was really clean. There was no dust at all (I am allergic, and I did not have any allergic episode).

The B&B was exactly what the pictures showed on the website, but the experience of been there was more warm and beautiful. If you are going to St. Louis, you should choose this great B&B. You will be not disappointed at all.

We spent Labor Day weekend (2012) at Brewer's House and had a great time. We reserved the downstairs master suite and enjoyed the privacy and big comfy bed. It was a cozy, inviting home and Rick was a great host. He got fresh ingredients from the local market, and his breakfasts were delicious! He was very accommodating with our schedule (late check-in, sleeping in, etc), and he was very friendly. He has a dog (Caroline) who is sweet as can be, and she is perfect for a B&B - she was happy to come visit you if you called her, but otherwise you wouldn't know she was there! She was very quiet and not at all a nuisance. The location is super convenient for both getting on the highway or exploring Benton Park, and the private deck had a great view of downtown and the Arch!

Had a weekend available in St. Louis and picked out Brewers House B & B using TripAdvisor. Two couples and just two rooms available in a nicely renovated old row type house. Rick, the gracious host welcomed us into his home and made us quite comfortable. Being out-of-towners we relied on Rick's knowledge of local events, restaurants and most see places in town.
Breakfast was served around our schedule in his kitchen. Hot tub was ready to go but just too hot outside to warrant its use.
We would recommend Brewers House, just remember there are only two rooms available and the owner is in close proximity.
