Attraction details
Owner description: Soulard Market is the oldest farmers market west of the Mississippi established in 1779 and is open Wednesday-Saturday. We have 13 local farmers, 1 organic farmer, a florist and spice shop, lots of food and a bunch of produce vendors that handle local and shipped in goods. The market also carries a variety of other general merchandise like shirts, jewelry, incense, sports memorabilia, hand made soaps, carpet, photography and hand made crafts. We are open 52 weeks a year.

“Visit for a taste of St Louis”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

A good farmers market, in addition to providing good, locally grown produce, can reflect a region's culinary traditions. This is true for Soulard Market. Not only is there a variety of produce and meats, there are booths with prepared foods and others selling locally made goods. Be sure to stop at the It's a STL Thing booth for a sampling of what I'm talking about. There are also booths selling baked goods (mmmmm, gooey butter cake). Parking is on the street or in a lot across from the market. Get there early to beat the crowds and to get the best selection. Get a Soulard Market t-shirt or shopping bag as a souvenir of your visit. The market is just south of downtown, very easy to get to.

“Great Market”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

We happened upon this neat market by a GPS recommendation. It is a neighborhood park with a huge farmers market in a circle pavilion on weekends. You can buy Aything here. It goes on forever. Meats, produce, a HUGE spice store, eggs, alcoholic drinks, gelattos, plants, seafood, cajun foods, and even pets and clothing. Usually street musicians playing in the vicinity. Great coffees, and the list goes on and on. Bring a large cooler to haul your purchases home. Everything is affordable and fresh. Plenty of parking in the area.

“Buy a Bloody Mary and hen all in the same vicinity!”
Reviewed April 15, 2013 via mobile

This place is great! With the frugal gormet in mind. Went there on a nice spring afternoon and picked up 3 cartons of portabello "small size" mushrooms, $1 apiece! Farm fresh eggs $2/ dozen. And of course a Bloody Mary, $4. Dellishes!
Lots of local butchers are here as well. Food stands too!
Perfect place to go and just walk around and mingle with the locals as well

“Food Food Food Fresh”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

We drove to the market on a Saturday afternoon. There is a parking lot next door. The market features fresh vegetables, fruit and meats. The food was great looking and varied. Fresh coon is offered. There is also a great spice shop and a fully stocked meat shop. Prices were reasonable and the quality was excellent. It is worth the trip for the experience alone. It is also a good opportunity to get some fresh fruit for your travels.
