“History, and Respect, all in one day!”
Reviewed March 10, 2012

A day you'll long remember after a visit to both the park and cemetery! The JB Park, probably has not changed much for the last 100 + years and is a very relaxing place for family and loved ones. The National Cemetery is a place to pay your respects for the many Veterans and their families, that served their country.

Just a short hop off of I-255, and close to the historic Mississippi River you will enjoy the diversity of the area. You have walking and hiking in this scenic park, and can see many historical buildings. Many of them are going thru some sort of renovation and POW/MIA Museum is under renovation, and should be most interesting.

Should your travel plans take you thru St. Louis, you might want to take a break, go for a walk, and pay your respects to "Fallen Veteran's".

“JB”

A treasure trove of history of the military in Saint Louis. The old base is still used by the reserves. The national cemetary is peaceful and reninds of the sacrifices of those who have died to keep us a free republic.

“Stopped by en route to airport”
Reviewed October 18, 2011

My mother's family is from southern Illinois and when we visited family in Missouri, I always wondered what Jeff Barracks was about. Well, it is an old fort where soldiers trained and lived from Civil War time to WWII. The land is very pretty with hills and valleys but the site interpretation is pretty thin. The veterans cemetery is moving - there are thousands of soldiers buried there.

“As Awesome as Arlington”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

This is a very easy-to-get-to place, right off I-55, along the Mississippi River south of downtown St. Louis. It is well worth the trip. Many civil war veterans are buried there. This is a humbling experience.

“So moving”

Rows and rows of people who served and protected. It touches you to see the amount of tombstones. Me mom & mother in law are both buried here.
