This is the second year for the Garden Glow, a holiday light spectacular. I was told that there are over 600,000 lights this year. The garden grounds are amazing. There are various stands which sell refreshments and food. Great for the kids. Get your tickets early or on line because this even will sell out.

Garden Glow!
I visited with my son this weekend and had a fabulous time. Yes it was crowded, yes it was cold, and yes the lights were spectacular. All ages seemed to be enjoying the walk at their own pace and plenty of places to take the perfect photo. The adult hot chocolate was really good and hit the spot on a cold night. Go if you can

I visited the Garden with my sister although we shared the grounds with young children, teenagers, and citizens of all ages. For some reason, TA has removed the plain family button.

The light display is spectacular from the "snowing" lights in the trees at the entrance to the final show near the reflection pool by the garden house.

Magnificent. Wonderful. Awesome. Breathtaking. Photographs cannot capture how gorgeous these displays are. Your eyes don't know where to look first.

My favorite is the alley of small pine trees decorated in fuchsia and green lights framing a very large tree literally covered in peacock blue lights. LED colors at their finest.

There is a maze of small shrubs in white lights; the Shaw Mansion is open and decorated in Victorian finery; illuminaries light a path to a viewing area perfect for marriage proposals. I could go on for an hour. There are lighting effects that Disney might be able to pull off. Maybe.

Be advised to wear comfortable walking shoes and wear clothing suitable to cold weather. The path is one way with plenty of clearly identified volunteers to show you the way. Photo ops abound. Keep in mind this is a NIGHT display so most exterior facility lights are turned off. There is enough lighting to see but keep a good hold of children. We walked for a good 45 minutes inside the garden itself. The doors do not open until 5:30 pm so be prepared to wait.

There are several warming stations with hot chocolate and other beverages. Kettle corn, s'mores, and funnel cakes are available for purchase. Bring cash.

Tickets are available online. Admission for adults is $16. Well worth the price. The display was cancelled the night before because of the very rainy weather so you might want to call ahead. The Garden web site will provide all other pertinent information.

I am coming back next year either with the grandchildren or with friends. What a fabulous show.

This is the place to go to she wonderful landscaped gardens. But there is always something to learn or see. In October the gardens host "The Best of Missouri Market" which is four large tents filled with vendors sell honey ,soap, knit hats, plants, and more. All products produced in Missouri. It is always a well attended event and parking can be at a premium. During December the gardens lights up for Christmas. Take a leisure walk through the lite gardens while you enjoy some hot chocolate. The gardens also has a Chinese festival and Japanese festival in the spring and summer.
