The MO Botanical Gardens is one of the premier ones in the country. We have been there many times and have similar ones in other parts of the country.

From beautiful lush gardens, native foliage, towering trees, meandering walking paths, and water features . . . you need to see it to believe it. It's a year round must for young and old. The gardens hold several events and festivals throughout the year. However, you can stop in most anytime Sunday through Saturday during business hours and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the gardens. This is also a children friendly garden with an entire section devoted to children and those that are young at heart. A must see when you are in St. Louis.

I've visited several botanical gardens but never as extensive and beautiful as St. Louis', except Buschart Gardens! The Lantern Festival celebration in 2012 was truly magical. I visited twice, once in the day and once in the evening. It was a very successful event. I have taken my Mother the past ten years to the Orchid Show, which is a highlight for her. I take my grandsons to the Christmas display; the train display is beyond explanation. I also love the tulip and iris events.

Great for family and couples. There are summer Jazz concerts on Wednesday nights, which are family friendly, pack a picnic and enjoy-it's free too! One of the best summer features in St. Louis. This year there will also be a Christmas light display to enjoy as well during the season.

Full disclaimer - my wife and I are members of this fine garden - but we are members for a reason.

The Missouri Botanical gardens are a year round favorite of ours. Not only are the gardens magnificent to look at in the summer, MoBot provides a wide variety of activities and programs throughout the year that keep us coming back year round.

Our "go-to's" are the Climatron (indoor tropical paradise), the Japanese garden (one of the largest authentic Japanese gardens outside of Japan), and home garden center (great ideas and inspiration for our garden).

Special events include the Japanese festival (Labor Day weekend) and the garden train show (Christmas season).

Recently, the garden began a holiday lights program called :Garden Glow" which is spectacular.

Whatever the season....GO to MoBot!!!
