Owner description: Don't take the name so literally. We're about fun. Not your white walls, walk around, and be quiet museum. If you want to climb around, get active with your kids or are a big kid at heart, we're the place. If you get freaked out easily, you might not want to come. We're four floors filled with miles of tunnels, a full cave system, over 30 slides, a circus, an arts area, a large outdoor climbing space, Architectural Museum, a Cabin that serves adult beverages, a Museum of Mayhem, Mirth and Mystery, and a ton more. Also, there's the roof with a Ferris Wheel and a bus hanging off its edge.

“Amazing and so much fun”

We went to the City Museum on a Saturday. Our group consisted of a variety of ages - big kids, little kids, teenagers, young adults, and adults and everyone had fun.

The museum itself is a wonder. It is huge and you just don't know what you will find around every turn. We will definitely visit again when we go back to St Louis.

We arrived right at the opening and it was not yet crowded. However, by mid-morning there was a significant line to get in.

“Mom and Dad had just as much fun as the kids”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2010

We went here with our 8 year old daughter and 5 year old son. We all agree it was probably the highlight of our vacation. Husband and I had tons of fun being able to participate with the kids...well, in the spots we could fit in! We were there for hours and hours exploring every cave, tunnel, slide, attractions, bus, plane etc etc etc. We all left with dirty pants and sore knees, but happy (and tired) smiles. We did pay extra for the roof and that was well worth it (especially the 7 story slide) but did not go into the aquarium.

Our daughter ended up running ahead of us and got a little lost and the staff was WONDERFUL helping her find us again. They took very good care of our sobbing little girl until we were reunited.

“A grown up's playground!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2010

We took our grandsons age 6 & 7 , but I think we enjoyed it as much as they did! The caves were a little scary. The art work is incredible! We paid extra to go out on the roof, and it was worth it! The school bus hanging over the edge was cool. We didn't pay extra for the aquarium because it looked like just a room with some small to medium fish tanks.

“Had a Great Time!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2010

Took our kids ages 11 and 8. They had a wonderful time and would love to go back. We did purchase the tickets to have access to the roof. We would probably not do the roof again. Everyone had fun on the roof, but had more fun in the outside area and in the cave/ocean/tree area. We all did the 10-story slide and would not do that again, either. It really wasn't fun for any of us and I still have the "burns" from going down the slide. But, the kids had a blast. We went in the late afternoon and planned on spending about 3 hours at the museum and we did just that. However, we did not eat lunch before we went, just snacked. I know the kids were having a great time when they never stopped climbing to tell me they were hungry, thirsty or had to go to the bathroom. They were so engaged. The City Museum was well worth the trip and money.

“City museum is fun for older children but needs some serious cleaning.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2010

I went to City Museum with my grand children ages 4 and 9. They enjoyed the slides and tunnels. The Aquarium is not worth the extra money. They are dirty and water was leaking on the floor around one. The museum would be a nice place if it was better organized and cleaned up. The aquarium needs to be closed down and redone. For the money you pay you would be better off going somewhere else.
