Owner description: Don't take the name so literally. We're about fun. Not your white walls, walk around, and be quiet museum. If you want to climb around, get active with your kids or are a big kid at heart, we're the place. If you get freaked out easily, you might not want to come. We're four floors filled with miles of tunnels, a full cave system, over 30 slides, a circus, an arts area, a large outdoor climbing space, Architectural Museum, a Cabin that serves adult beverages, a Museum of Mayhem, Mirth and Mystery, and a ton more. Also, there's the roof with a Ferris Wheel and a bus hanging off its edge.

We spent over 6 hours at this museum. My husband and older kids loved it! There is not much for kids 3 and under to really do but we made do. We will return to City Museum and highly recommend it as a must see for all families visiting St. Louis!

“Number 1st attraction in st. louis. just bring knee pads with you :)”
Reviewed December 11, 2013

We got here without any prior knowledge of what is expected. As we entered we saw the ground floor: a lovely floor mosaic with a few ladders going up to the ceiling. We decided to climb one of these and then we went "through the looking glass" to a world of tunnels, ladders, slides, bridges, fishes, artistic alligators and puking pigs. This is an excellent in-door amusement park that measures up to a lot of outdoor amusement parks in the amount of fun. It combines works of art and recycled industrial parts (the museum is located inside an old shoes factory).

“So much fun”
Reviewed December 7, 2013 via mobile

We went to City Museum on a Saturday morning before a matinee performance. This place is fun for any age. Kids can run wild, adults can be kids. Exhibits are very hands on and exploration is encouraged. This would be fun for almost anyone, although kids in strollers or people with mobility issues would be precluded from a lot of areas.

“For kids”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

This is not a museum for adults - but spectacular for kids. We were wishing our grandkids were with us and kept saying, "wouldn't so-and-so love this?"

“My favorite spot in St. Louis!”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

While planning our trip to St. Louis, I glanced through City Museum's website. I really wasn't sure if it was the kind of place two grown people could go to without kids and not get funny looks. I was so glad we decided to check it out! We were transformed into kids ourselves!! We climbed around, went down the slides, crawled through the tunnels, and had a blast! It's the sort of place where you can let kids run around and be kids (and wear themselves out!). Definitely check this one out!
